i just restarted playing again after almost a year off. now my brother wants to do the same, tho hes been off game far longer. his question is this: he wants to see stats of his old char before committing to one month see if its worthwhile to pick back up where he left off. the 14 day trial is for new players and so is recruitment program iirc, is there and way he can check status w/o having to pay? lol sounds kinda cheap i know just curiousity

No, if he wants to reactivate his account (which is required to actually log in), then he'll have to start paying again.

There is a program to check your items, though you have to be playing on a computer that he used to use for FFXI though. I can't remember the name for the life of me, but I'm sure someone can. I used it when I got hacked, and it was quite helpful in the end.

I just downloaded it, it sorta works as in I can see icons, but only about 10% of the items have names/#s lol.

Altana Cubby got broken by an update a while back, you need the updated version that I think is floating around KI somewhere. That being said, it only goes off what it last saw; If you haven't logged in in a year, then what you see will be what it looked like a year ago.

Using information from the Windower forums, I updated the EXE myself a few months ago. Here's a still working download link to that modified version:

However, that program won't show you any stats, just inventory. And if you've never logged on to FFXI on the machine you use AltanaCubby on, it won't do anything for you.

Altana Cubby is the handiest thing ever when you have a ton of mules. You can check and see what you have where without switching. (Unfortunately it doesn't tell you how much you have, a stack, part of a stack, or one, but it's still really great.)
