Ugga pendant... how do you guys activate this? I have 4/4 HP/MP merits, and I've tried using a sea cape and powerful rope, 40/85, but it doesn't activate. According to wiki it only counts visible gear... so I guess I'm SoL from the MP merits?

    Anyway. gear is:

    Melee:
    Joytoy
    Useless DEF:4 lvl30 shield
    Martial/steel
    Turban
Chiv chain (gimp, 0/12 on fort torque)
    Suppa/Brutal
    Enkidu's harness
    Dusk gloves
    Blood/Woodsman
    Amemet+1
Potent belt (gimp, working on swift)
    Skadi's chausses
    Enkidu's leggings

    Ranged:
    Joytoy
    Useless DEF:4 lvl30 shield
    Martial/steel
    AF1+1 tricorne
    Faith torque
    Beater's/Triumph (Drone for non-/rng)
    Pahluwan body (need af1+1)
    Skadi's bazubands
    Behe rings+1
    Amemet+1
    Commodore's belt
    Skadi's chausses
    Skadi's jambeaux (need af1+1)

    QD:
    Af1+1 hat
    Molda/novio
    Enkidu's harness (need denali)
    Skadi's bazubands
    Omega/Balrahn's
    Scouter's rope
    Nimue's Tights (need denali)
    Enkidu's leggings

Slugshot is the same as ranged except for sea gorget, Leaden is the same as Quick Draw.

Hmm? Why not just single wield the Joyeuse? A Kris could probably be even better because of your dagger merits, but the Jambiya is just slowing down your TP gain.

Yeah, without MP merits my Ugg Pendant's MP sets me below the 50% mark, which activateds the latent. As for using dagger/sword, yes, it would be faster to gain TP with just the sword, but Kris is still 3m here, whereas Joy was free.
I parsed my overall TP gain with Joy solo vs. dagger/joy, and it's not that big of a loss, plus with the 8 dagger merits and Love Torque it's still pretty much a guarantee I'll get TP since I will always use the haste setup over swapping in accuracy. Any additional TP from Joy is just icing on the cake. In a nutshell, it all boils down to the fact that my party could care less what I'm doing as long as they have Comm. Tricorne +1 induced rolls on.

The best way (although not necessarily an option for some) is to take off all of your MP gear and slap on a Brutal before going back to your QD/LS build. Physical Earrings work fine, as well. That's the simplest way I've found for activating Ugg without a mage sub, aside from Rune Blade.

    Edit:

I can see why you would be discouraged from getting Ugg if you don't have, say, BLM leveled to further justify having it, but keep in mind that COR has access to a whopping total of four slots where they can get MAB, and neck is one of them. You have plenty of other places to make up for the 5AGI loss from not having Torque, and in all honesty, 5AGI in itself won't make or break your resist rates, whereas 8MAB is quite noticeable. However, Hope Torque is the clear winner for Light/Dark Shot.

I argue with Lament all the time about dual wielding with his Joyeuse and subbing /NIN endgame, it's a lost cause. lol >_>

As for not bothering with Uggy because you've got Agile; your Agile gorget isn't really helping on your damage shots and if you need that extra 2 AGI to land full damage QDs there is a problem(or you're shooting something crazy resistant anyway). I use Agile for Light/Dark Shot and Uggy for everything else.

The person you quoted already said that.

That's how I do it, I have MP merits as well so I have a macro that swaps 2 Physical Earrings in and out. Eventually will upgrade to a Cassie so that I can put more merits in MP.

i haven't unlocked the new ws yet, but how good is the dmg on hnm? would /sam be a viable choice doing both leaden salute & quickdraws on them?

I have no personal experience with it, but a much better way to use Leaden Salute on HNMs would be to TP on adds or stray mobs (easy for say, Tiamat or Ixion). The one stipulation is that you have to pick either pluto's staff for LS or a different staff for QD, so considerations have to be made on which is the better choice.

Leaden's been resisted heavily on anything difficult, from what I've tried. Probably better using slug/detonator.

Leaden is very nice in nyzul, though. Puddings, slimes, etc.

There was some discussion in this forum regarding latent activation for sorcerer's ring, and how certain slots don't count towards the latent (ranged, back, etc), maybe that's why the pendant isn't proc'ing?

Personally I do a fair amount of curing/status on cor/whm so chances are I'll be below 50% MP sooner or later, and not having to remember to put the pendant on is nice for me, since I don't need the agi.

It is my understanding, from being Blm main, and having 3 other Mage jobs leveled, that the latent on the Uggalepih Pendant NEVER cativates unless either the main job or support job have natural MP. So that's any combination of Whm, Rdm, Blm, Blu, Pld, Sch, Smn or Drk. No matter if you try to trick the game and have MP merits, the latent still won't activate because the job combination you are on technically has no MP to offer the Latent requirements. That's why Cor/Whm will trigger Pendant, but Cor/Rng won't, even with MP merits and gear swapping like you would for Sorc.Ring Black Mages.

As for this statement, that theory is kinda stupid. Sorcerer's Ring is activated by bringing your base, unequipped HP down 25% through uses of various gear to make you have natural yellow health, but when applied with gear, new restrictions are made on your character so that it technically isn't in yellow health (See Zenith, etc). When you gear swap into your Sorc.Ring macro set and then unequip yourself, if you are not yellow, then your set is wrong. My original set was so finely tuned, to where I go over my threshold by 3 HP when I play Blm/Rdm, however when I am Blm/Whm, I noticed that my nukes were doing far less damage. Turns out that I have slightly higher base HP therefore my Sorc.Ring doesn't work because my base HP moves from 772 to 778, or something silly like that. This is probably the small reasons some people find that on different setups, their Sorc.Ring won't trigger, it's because you make the macro and gear changes in one job (Blm/Rdm), but when you apply it to another, the base values change and screw up the whole thing.

Being a Taru, Im not too keen on dropping my HP too low, hense the fine adjustment to my Sorc.Ring macro. Don't forget that /Whm has Auto-Regen, which further screws up the Sorc.Ring setup. Therefore, I have 2 Sorc.Ring macros... One for Blm/Rdm, and another for everything else (Blm/Nin, Blm/Whm, Blm/Sch)

Just to clarify my above post, the Main OR Support job require MP, you don't need both. So you could trigger the Pendant latent on Brd/Drk, or Pld/Rng, or Bst/Smn if you like, so long as one of the two have natural MP. So Cor/Whm works, Cor/Rng doesn't.

How do the rest of you feel about using the full Skadi set against the best haste setup, speaking mainly for merit mobs.
If you went full haste on the head, hands, legs and feet, you'd have 15% haste. Skadi has 5% total haste on the same slots. You gain the critical hit rate bonus but lose 10% haste.

Haste setup: Walahra turban, Dusk gloves +1, Barbarossa's zerehs, Dusk ledelsens +1
    15% haste
    11 attack
    4 str

Skadi setup: Skadi's visor, Skadi's bazubands, Skadi's chausses, Skadi's jambeaux
    5% haste
    21 attack
    8 str
    4 dex
    9 accuracy
    7 store tp
    Increased rate of critical hits

So you sacrifice a little speed for more damage over time from melee swings. From my own parses it seems Skadi offers a five percent increase to critical hit rate (plus the four dex on the hat which I never use otherwise).

Stupid is calling something a stupid theory when it's been tested and proved to be true. Sorcerer's ring activates when your current HP is less than 76% of your max HP excluding back, ring2, armor that converts HP>MP, armor that gives a % increase to HP, and food. You have a 75BLM, check it out for yourself. Or you can believe that I did or I wouldn't be posting now. Or you can search for the posts in this forum where both ring and pendant have been discussed in detail.

Uggalepih Pendant works similarly. It's when your current HP is less than 51%, but it doesn't count ear, rings, back, waist, food, convert hp>mp gear, or gear that gives a % increase to MP. Maybe the native MP thing is true too, but I'd need to be convinced of that by someone who performs a test wearing MP+ gear that counts towards latent instead of dismissing the demonstrated mechanics of the item itself.

Definitely would go with the haste build, the only Skadi peices I would use for melee TP would be body and legs. There's no way the crit bonus could make up for the extra WS' gained from gaining TP much faster.

Incorrect. I have tested this multiple times when I went to solo kite JoFort as COR/NIN. To clarify, I have 8/8 MP merits, and after removing all MP gear, tacking on a cassie, and returning to the original build, it's blatantly obvious whether you have the MAB or not. I've tested this without any appropriate weather or day active, and JoFort only resists QD once in a blue moon with a good QD build, so it's easy to tell.

Edit: Just noticed. The question I have is this: how does having 4 mage jobs boost understanding about an item's effects on a main/sub combo with no natural MP? o_O

Okkkkkkk, humble apologies to you, I did go out this morning (instead of going to the gym ; and went out with the intention of proving you wrong. And I thought I was onto something... The point that I was making is that my understanding of the way the Latent works is when your base, unequipped HP (mine is 772) is dragged into Yellow health through gear (579) then when you put gear back on, your not in yellow health but whatever gear you use (I use Morrigan Cuffs in leiu of Zenith Mitts) brings you to healthiness. My point is correct, it just doesn't stipulate that there are gear exceptions to the rule, which is what I went out and tested this morning. Last night I got Ixion Cape (to match my Cloak for Sch), and tested Ixion vs Gleemans, and through some confusing way or another I worked out that when I brought my HP to 572 (technically under my base HP threshold) my Sorc.Ring wasnt working, but when I used Ixion Cape to bring it down to 562, it did. Turns out that my PeniRope was the culprit in making my maths all wrong, and nothing else.

So! I went out and tested the Uggalepih Pendant on Corsair to see if my theory is correct there... My theory about having natural MP gifted from the job combination.

I went out on Cor/Thf (mainly so I could Flee back to MH quicker) and tested this in Sarutabaruta. To me, the only thing I am lacking in damage is Denali Kecks, I have everything else required for Quick Draw.

This is my QD setup and the damage it creates:

    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/CorTest1.png

As you can see, I have 10 MP already; this is because I have 1 MP merit (lolMPmeritsonataru). Totally, I have 10/65 MP (both Crimson items giving me further MP on top of the Uggalepih Pendant). Damage is 276.

Next, I take off all MP gear so that only the Pendant is on.

    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/CorTest2.png

Damage is lowered because the latent isn't triggered. Pendant MP isn't a factor, but other gear slots are. 10/30 MP, without Pendant, technically makes me 10/10 MP, so no trigger.

    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/CorTest3.png

I put on the Crimson Greaves, bumps me to 10/25 MP (excluding Pendant), and the latent is triggered. Grats, I just disproved my own beliefs.

    Then I did this...

    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/CorTest4.png

And went out to try it again, thinking that perhaps Natural MP DOES have a factor in Pendant...

    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/CorTest5.png

    http://i157.photobucket.com/albums/t...a/CorTest6.png

Ergo, I'm wrong again. So if you have 0 MP merits, triggering the latent is easy, for those that use Skadi Hands instead of anything else, I suggest you don't. Use Crimson Finger Gauntlets to trigger the latent on the Pendant, the MAB+8 is far better than AGI+5 that the Bazubands offer, in my opinion~

Or you could just use a staff strap with the corresponding Elemental staff, and keep on the Skadi gloves for added QD Accuracy.

As for the question about full Skadi, haste build, all the way. I've had full Skadi forever, and the only two pieces I use for melee TP are the body and legs, other than that it's W Turban, Dusk Hands, Dusk Feet. Skadi's crit bonus is nowhere near high enough to use the full set over a mixed haste build. Although, Skadi Chausses over Barbarossa Zerehs for sure.

edit: wth are those pants? Nimue's Tights?
