Today (Tuesday) should be the release of the first available DLC for Fable 2. Dunno if it's worth it or if I'll buy it. Will have to see what others think first.
Got it, and finished it. Getting everything took probably a total of three hours. Without giving too much away, there's some stuff you will want to collect before entering Knothole Island, if you're impatient like me.
It was fun, and the new clothing, potions and weapons are cool, and the environments looked really nice, but no new enemies or drastic departures from the main gameplay. As for whether it's worth it or not... it's about the same price as a movie + snacks, for about the same length of enjoyment.
I don't know, is it really spoiling anything if it's just for mentioning DLC? Anyways, it was worth the $10 just to be able toSpoiler: show
I lol'd at the "greaser" stuff though

I just bought this game and started it. I have a question about the chest in the cave where you bring the Heroes. When you click the chest it says "visit Xbox.com | Fable® II - Splash page for more information how to unlock the chest to gain access to the gold and treasures left behind by your hero ancesters".
I can't see any pertinent information on the website, anyone know the chest I am talking about? Anyone know how to open it?
Ah ok thanks. I thought it was rather random. I am really enjoying Fable2 so far. I think the gameplay could be improved in a couple places but it works and the environments are very beautiful. I am trying to be good my first play through and it is really tough to not kill people or steal anything.
Played through the DLC. In all honesty, I think it was worth the cash. The option of:

alone was really worth it for me. Also something interesting to note:

As far as the actual new quests, they were ok. Decent series of them -- nothing too hard at all, but somewhat fun. However, where the content really shines IMO are the multitude of items that you can get. Skinny/fat potions, scar removal potions, new augments (a lot of which have no negatives), an augment remover, new unique weapons/armor, etc are all just amazing. Allows you to get around of a lot of the annoyances in the game and allows for much more character customization than before and in much quicker time.
Hopefully next DLC batch will add in some more story. This one made me feel better about some of the mechanics I hated, maybe the next one will make me feel better about the God-awful ending.
Is there a difference between the free DLC and the pay DLC? The only difference I saw was that the pay version allowed you to co-op with friends on the new island.
Also since I just started I have been spending time gargoyle hunting, are there any gargoyles that you are only able to get during certain parts of the game? If I progress to far in the main quests will I lock myself out of doing anything important or cool?
Can get all gargoyles at any point in the game... they are so easy to miss so would suck if you could miss any w/o having a chance to go back. The Free DLC lets you co-op w/ other ppl who have the full version (thats all). To actually access the DLC content w/o playing in another persons game then you need to buy it
Thanks Katlan. Yeah the gargoyles are a big pain in the ass. Last night I spent a long time hunting them and only found 5 scattered around. One was behind something in an area where you cannot get so it was really hard to find the exact spot that I had to stand so I could actually shoot it.
I'm assuming you mean the one by the Bowerstone carriage place? I remember giving up on that one...and then /facepalmed when the cart moved later in the story.
As far as free/pay DLC, Katlan pretty much has the nail hit on the head. You can get some of the items from the NPC, but you can't actually go to Knothole Island or do any of the quests there.
lol! I figured the carriage must move later in the story but I wanted to shoot it before I forgot where it was so I spent 10 minutes and scared a ton of villagers looking for the sweet spot that would allow me to shoot between the carriage and the wall and hit the darn gargoyle. In the process of gargoyle hunting I did find quite a few secret hidden rooms with money or jewels in them.
Do gems have any use other than giving as gifts or selling? I have amethyst and jet and several other gems and I am not sure if I should hang onto them or sell them.
Gift giving unless you want to sell them, but money is pointless in the game cause u can do the trick i mentioned above in a few minutes to start your world reign. I never traded one item in my game, but was happy to take the stuff the villagers wanted to give me for a few dances :D I'd save ur trade items for the last town you visit (the one where you see Reaver I think - Gun guy). You have a small % chance in each trade for that town to get the whore gloves/boots (haha) to complete your set! Only way to get the full outfit![]()
Next Fable II content on May 12th:
Kotaku - Fable II See The Future's Future Foretold - Fable II
Can't wait!
Yay more fable content. I been waiting for an excuse to play again.
As much as I want to be excited about this DLC, every time I put in the game I want to break it because it was so easy and short. I guess I'm just old and crotchey from playing RPGs for 40 and 50+ hours only to plug it in and get 4 hours. Maybe if it's a lot longer than Knothole Island I'll get it, but KI left a serious "that's it?" feeling.
