So if I take a tank PT with 2 PLD/RDM BRD WHM SCH RDM, then enough SMN and RNG it's gonna be a joke right? We have 2 Aegis too but dunno if they'd be tanks.

Does it have high evasion?
Need to choose between meat or sushi
As RNG, from 21' away, my accuracy dropped down to ~60% with my STR build (Which I think is around +26 RACC and +36 AGI) and no RACC songs/rolls or sushi. Hard to put that into melee terms, but I'd say he's fairly evasive.
If the plds have good fire resist sets, then yes.
If you have Nin or Sam with good fire sets, then you might want to consider bringing them to tank instead.
Also be aware of the funky hate change that happens. Read post 2 on page 2 of this thread:

And you might want to browse through the whole thread while you're at it.
I was the RNG who took hate at 9% and almost wiped us ._.;
If you watch the video I put up you can clearly see that our BLMs we're occasionally pulling hate. I mean sure, BLMs aren't going to get amazing wtfpwn damage on it, but they should be doing about the same damage or slightly less than they would get on Tiamat or a Sky God in decent gear. Bring a couple SMNs, some BLMs, and SAMs and you'll be good to go. The fight isn't rocket science. Also, like I mentioned above you should have a couple people Dispelling it on a steady basis, Magma Hoplon is Stoneskin after all and mitigates damage which attributes to everyone (melees or mages) getting crappy damage if it's up. So Dispel baby, Dispel.
Ugh lol, go figure I just unloaded a Ruby Ring and dropped my Power Sandals this weekend before reading that.
The main issue is inventory space, I have a lot of non-storable shit on my main but have a magic %- set from RDM tanking. I would have to mule a good amount of shit just to be able to carry a resist set, so if the reduction set is good enough that'd be nice just to not need an extra 30 minutes of moving shit around to get ready. But thanks for the setup advice, I'm still going to attempt to get a reasonable set together.
SAMs can get very high barfire gear, because they can equip both PLD and NIN gear, around 180-200 fire. at that point u wont even need carol to get max resist rate, only barfire from WHM.
Indeed. God damned sams.
And to the post above, seriously... just mule for 20 minutes and get it over with. The damage reduction over time will be more than worth it.
I have Aegis and probably the best MDB build you can get with Aegis and I still used a fire resist set. Makes the fight a total joke and keeps hate where it belongs (until taru rngs barrage -> WS and pull it to the mages right at 9% CS GoH TAKUUUNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!! /waves angry fist in the air)
Has anyone tried WAR/NIN (or /SAM) with a fire resist build to tank? If so how did it go? and if not do you think it would work well with the WAR/NIN tanking? The other tank would be a SAM if that makes any difference.
He attacks way too fast for WAR to blinktank.
Oh ya, one other thing:
This thing has fucking mighty strikes when attacking from behind. 100% crit rate if he is beating you with his back feet. So watch positioning Q.Q
Do you have your tanks wear thier fire suits full time? Or just for chainspells?
Depending on the amount of well geared DD and mages you have this is best done with a zerg type strategy. No 2 hours are needed really unless your only planning on doing one or its your last fight of the day. Pretty much the way we set it up is like this.
Three partys with 5x DD /war or /sam depending on the job and a brd. BRDs drop troubadour nightingale and w/e 2 songs they are designated to play and rotate. Once all three pts have 6 songs(one of which should be fire carol cast with crumhorn +1)the brds drop and are replaced with whms.
DDs run in zerg down pretty fast whms just barfira and spam curga the whole time pretty much. Don't be scared to drop huge cure bombs you wont pull hate. If you have any SCH at your disposal its nice to have them as outside support for this fight since they can target 1 person with a cure macro and ga it from outside the alliance.
The reason this strat works well is because you don't really have to worry about the howl cycles hes pretty much dead once his 1st CS is over and he ends up getting maybe 1-2 GoH off if that(we have actually killed him without 1 going off)
Having someone spamming a reverse /assist macro in LS chat to help the whms know who has hate helps also. As with all zergs feint and angon are very nice to have but not completely necessary. Also you can have your DDs use some fire resist gear it does help however its going to die so fast with the above strat that if your whms have merited Bar spell effect, shell V, Cleric's Pantaloons and Blessed Briault the spells he cast wont really be doing that much dmg.
I wouldn't really advise going for a traditional tanked style set-up for this fight simply because the regen and paralyze are a serious pain in the ass. Not to mention his final CS can and will get very very ugly fast. You could tank him down to his final CS and wipe then fight again but thats very time consuming and messy. With our LSs experience we usually have 8+ pops to do when we get to tier 4 so its just best to put this thing down as fast as possible with minimal death.
We have a vid up on youtube of us killing using the strat above. Just do a search for Reflect Sarameya zerg(cant post links yet due to low post count lol...)
In any case good luck with your fights/drops I hope this info helps out.
Holy Necro Bump Batman!
nvm
Cool progression on Aegis, bro
