Could you check Shadow Mantle/Shadow Ring rates, or if anything effects them? Thanks.
I didn't believe it until I tried it.
Y's scythe is -2 prep cost to fenrir, diabolos.
+2 to carby, light elemental.

NQ Dark staff but without the magic bonuses, just the avatar stuff.
The horrible thing is that actually makes sense.
Are you sure it has no bonuses for Dark Magic damage/accuracy?
Why would a DRK need bonuses to dark avatars.... DRK/SMN?
It's not that DRKs need bonuses for Dark Avatars, the point is that this suspicious book correctly pointed out a hidden effect on the weapon.
If it was an NQ dark staff WITH the magic stuff on it that would be pretty amazing. No more TP loss when something needs slept? MAYBE BREAK 200 DAMAGE ON MAGIC BURSTS?
But no. You see, that would just be useful. SE dun do that. Obviously they want DRK to sub SMN. How could we be so blind?

searching google i found that Tincture was the name of the item Ether in FF6. that;s another possibility.
yeah I hate to be a jackass about this stuff (especially because Elmer is doing a great service for the forum, fielding all these questions he doesn't have to)... but some of it strikes me as merely pulling information from a variety of websites and inputting/formatting it into a book (i imagine everything is in tables or some kind of standard page-form). I could pull information off wiki, format it to be presented in a different way, publish it... but the info isn't really any different, just how it's presented to you.
Put another way, I could (almost) see JP players buying a brady guide and posting it for people to accept as gospel truth. Just because it's cover and pages look different and is written in another language... an unofficial guidebook is still that =/
It'd be different if they listed sources and testing methodology, or data... but there's just a little too much generalization & estimation for the things we only have general or estimated info on, and spot on matching for the stuff we have spot on data for. There's little inconsistency (other than homam) or, what would possibly be more likely, close-alternative explanation for an estimated effect (such as Phraust's post on homam a few back).
All i'm saying is, take it with a grain of salt... that it was written in japanese is no reason to take it as absolutely true.
I agree, but if they give us a lead in the right direction... at least we got some use out of it. I always did wonder about a lot of gear though. Mainly Subling Sandals (Which I mentioned earlier) and Nidhogg's Scales and Doll Gizmo. Only thing I can think of is they were ment to be craft/quest items in the beta version of the game or something.
Maybe we'll see a The Miraculous Dale Part 2 where we need these items and other useless things? (Always wondered why SE gave that Polearm Pahh the Gullcaller drops the ability to eat raw fish >.>)
For me personally, Y's Scythe's hidden stats are the best thing to come out of this thread. I like the thought of DRK's using more absorbs.
Pluto's staff works better before a zerg.
This would be better against meleeable NMs that have high, but not outragous dark magic resistance, so that you get a decent scythe in addition to being able to land dark magic much more regularly.
