Technically, this is an Anecdotal, but...

While doing a Subligar/Swift Belt run, my friend was wearing a Fomor Tunic. He had low hate when we started, and still had low hate after. I personally popped the NM for Swift Belt twice on that run, so it wasn't a matter of not killing enough fomors. He was with us, and in group the entire time. Several other people got 2 pops in as well.

The Tunic clearly stopped the accumulation of Fomor Hate.

Yea, this book really suckered me in with a few interesting details, but after fielding all these questions, there's really just tons of NO DATA and blank entries. Although a lot of questions were of stuff that just doesn't have hidden effects.

Also, it's funny to notice the thing has all these typos, and not just the usual English mistakes. They include DPS on weapon charts, and in the beginning explain that it is "Damage per second" and whatnot, then every chart onward has it misspelled as DSP. They mislabel Legs as Hands, so there are two Hands sections.

On the sidebar is a list of equipment sections so you know where you are in the book. They add 部 to only Body and Feet, so it's like Body section, Feet section. Then halfway through the book the label changes and the 部 is removed.

The weirdest thing, I think, and they did this in last year's book too, is that after 228 pages of FFXI information, the last 11 pages are a World of Warcraft Starter Guide.

Are you sure about the title? ゲーム禁書 is that red book, right? I remember checking it quite a while ago and it seemed to ba about NMs...

Is it officially approved by SE like iirc, the softbank ones are? Usually on these books it will say somewhere whether testings have been conducted by the publishing staff or if the data is provided by SE.


A lot of the things mentioned in this thread have been already known (like the latent on Futsunomitama), though they may have not made their way to English sites. Even without checking the book, with a bit of searching and asking some answers can be found.

The tincture cures Plague and Disease, according to FFXI Dictionary.

Z Trident effect triggers when doing a WS, also according to the same source.

That was last year. I remember buying it in the hopes it would have info about Almighty Apkallu. This one is green although I removed the dust jacket in the picture below.

Not your fault, we all appreciate all of this that you've translated for us. It's just those god damn feet have been a mystery as to what they actually do since the beginning of time it feels. If only SE pulled their heads out of their asses and just told us some of these things instead of going 'lolwutfuckyou'.

Go look up the definition of magic resistance. Just because you have 100%+ magic acc doesn't mean you will get full damage... there's also factors like mob's INT, magic resistance, etc
