I think this has a lot to do with what's being said, not just how.
"every soul shall have the taste of death" and "all that is on earth will perish." - isn't really suitable for a kids game, don't ya think?

Considering it's in SOMALIAN, I doubt anyone (read: very very small percentage of the US) would have ever even known what the words were saying. I'm going to have to stick with the religiously offensive opinion.
edit: To clarify, I'm of the opinion that it could have been just about any statement from the Qur'an, even if there was something in there about "love thy brother and neighbor" and it still would've gotten complaints, because in the Muslim religion it's not tolerated to use passages from the Qur'an in that format.
I know it's in Somalian. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE KIDS IN SOMALIA?
Just because theres only a small number of people that would understand it doesn't make it any less offensive or out of place.
edit:
That first part was a joke, Rokku. And if it was that offensive, why was it in a popular song over on that part of the planet?
Edit edit: and why would they "just slap a sticker on it"? That could potentially alienate a portion of the audience. Sony doesn't want that to happen to one of their juggernaut titles like this. Too much money and effort was put into the game for them to potentially lose customers over adult content in a game specifically designed for everyone.
I really don't think kids in Somalia are going to be rushing out to buy Little Big Planet for the PS3s that they probably don't own. Perhaps you should read more about the current situation with Somalia's government, telecommunications network, and economy in general.
You are, however, missing the point. You're debating why Sony chose to remove it. Sony chose to remove it because they were passages in the Qur'an, not because they were afraid someone who understood Somalian would play the game and be traumatized. If it were the context of the lyrics, they would've just upped the game's rating, sent out some stickers or fixed box art, and called it a day.
The fact of the matter is that it's religiously offensive to one of the biggest religious communities in the civilized world.
gamestop told me the 26th of October for release
Why did you not just respond to my post, and instead double edit the post you made prior to mine?
I almost got my head chew off when I asked in my LS "Do Muslims even play video games?"But in all seriousness, I thought Sony had bigger balls than this and would've just told people that get offended to just go into the Options Menu and filter the song out.
It's a double standard actually. They told the church in Manchester to fuck off when they asked Sony to remove the church from Resistance.
Well me being Muslim, something finally went my way, I scored a LBP copy, from my local Mom & Pop Game store, jesus on eBay they are up to/@ $150
I'm enjoying story mode so much, getting trophies nicely, rather than force yourself to get a trophy, they come easily, sometimes without notice, which is awesome
My apologies, that response was to Deejay. Should've clarified.
lol I got a call from gamestop last night saying that LBP will be arriving saturday afternoon (as in, today..)........ right.
If you'd been a bit less of a pessimist and called, you'd find out that this is indeed true.
I don't appreciate your skepticism Exo... =P I have my fingers crossed. Apparently it is for pre-orders only, and I have heard of more than a few people that have picked their pre-orders up today. I am giving my store a bit of time to actually... open, then i am gonna swing by.
Haha seriously? A couple of days ago they said it would be shipped in November, and I actually got about 4 calls from Gamestop this week telling me how my rock band 2 order is ready when I never even reserved it... with so many mistakes it was hard to believe this one heh... so yeah, forgive my skepticism.
I was going to ask them about it tonight anyways, since i'm going to grab GHWT at the midnight launch.
