Just as a note, I even have some doubts about this and we will be checking it again when we do Bhaflau in the future. It just seems like someone would have noticed before.

The problem for me is that the mechanic seems so reasonable and consistent with the way the rest of the ramparts are spawned in the zone. Perhaps 50% chance MB is up on your side, then if it is not killing the trigger bomb causes it to spawn? What happens if the bomb self-destructs? We will be stunning self-destruct from now on, that is for sure.

It would make a hell of a lot of sense considering the other 3 Ramparts in the zone pop based on conditions relating to killing mobs in the vicinity in a certain fashion. The only things that bother me are that one would assume this would've been thought of and subsequently tested to some extent in the past, and that this development doesn't logically account for the fact that Mad Bomber can pop as soon as you enter the wing.

I completely agree, there are logical inconsistencies and testing definitely needs to be done.

I've gone ranger to salvage for about a year. I don't remember ever finding mad bomber on the widescan list midrun if he wasn't there to begin with but it wasn't something I was looking for after we picked a door at the start.

Salvage mobs dont tend to spawn for an area until the door for that section is opened. At least thats what I gathered from the widescan tests.

Well I think if Mad Bomber is from a Bifrons I would think its from the 4 bombs that are before the next door going north. I also will urge we stun self-destruct.

In Neo's group, what we don't get for drops we make up for in Mad Bomber pops... which normally, people would be like, "Hell yeah, MB is up"... meanwhile, I'm like, "damnit"... Because if we go for 2 ramps, we'll go for 1&2... but if MB isn't up, we sometimes go for 2&3... and I'm after Ares... blah blah blah... I'm just ranting...

I'll be sure to make a note to check after clearing all the bifrons in the future.

^ If you want to get a conclusive answer, I wouldn't rule out all of the Bifrons along the path as possible "poppers."

    Pretty simple tests:

Have two people in your group head to MB rooms before any Bifrons are killed. Yes, you can simply use Widescan, but the human eye for a real-time sighting of the pop would be much more conclusive, and less time the killing group is waiting for you to respond with a confirmed pop or not.

If MB is up prior to engaging any Bifrons, then the 50% theory of MB popping on either side still can apply. What can be even more interesting, although highly in doubt, is if you allow a Bifron to Self-Destruct, and MB despawns.

    And the obvious:

If MB is not up prior to engaging, kill every Bifron along the path, stunning Self-Destruct, and watching to see if a pop occurs.

If it doesn't, it's conclusive that you can go back to believing the 50% pop rate.

You are not alone in this belief, however, like yourself, my brain practically asploded trying to link the 4 Pudding rooms to 8 Vanadiel days to 24 Vanadiel Game hours, then somewhere in there I started dividing by Ebon panels to get AV with a remainder of Moogle so I gave up.

True, the difference of 4 or 7 is small enough to make it standard practice.

It could be just each time you defeat one (without SD) is a chance to pop MB if its not up already.

But also dont want to rule out other things like 'needs to die after using beserk' (At least it think these go beserk aka mad). I never noticed any special animations on them that are unique; but then again I was never looking for them either.

In my previous post, the very first bifron self-destructed. The 2nd bifron was killed normally.
Our group then checked Mad Bomber and it was up.
We didn't check for MB before any mobs were killed, so that's a grey area if MB was up from the start.

My group did a BR run on Sunday, and MB was up.

Our checker checked the SW room while we were killing the 3rd Bomb.

1st Bomb didnt SD, but did Zerk
2nd Bomb tried to Flare x2
3rd Bomb was being killed when MB was found.

So for us it was either up on entrance (no RNG)
or it was up after one of the 2 bombs was killed.

I think from now on I'll leave two people at each of the spawn points, and see if they see it pop anytime during the first floor clearance.

If this is the case, then Maybe MB is just a lotto off normal Bombs. Or Pops off Bombs + Condition (ie no SD or somthing along the lines for the 2nd floor "spiked mode")

Has nobody really ever killed all 8 bombs and then checked on MB? I guess I'll try that next time.

Also, the condition we're looking for could quite simply be on MB himself, kill before asplode.

It is normal practice for almost any group, to send at least 1 person to check both MB rooms while the others clear Bifrons up until moth room. Usually, that person has checked both rooms for MB by the time the group is opening the door to the 5th Bifron, and will confirm whether or not MB is up. Obviously if he isn't, there is no need to go back to either of those rooms to check as it is out of the way, the focus has now changed to gearing up everyone as fast as you can to get off 1F to have more more time for subsequent ramps/boss.

So it is not unlikely that people have never bothered to go back to check MB. Widescan could be helpful here, but RNG is generally never taken or allowed in my Salvages. D:

been doing 3man 12F rampart for usu feet and mori hands for friends

yesterday 3rd bomb self destructed and MB spotted by my checker(not pop in my face, just discover it) at the same time

i will be doing more of this and next run i will try:
    1. open door, invis checker
    2. if theres bomber before anything was killed, zzzzz nothing to test

    or

    2. if theres no bomber, park at spot, kill 1 bomb w/o SD, check for pop, run to other side, check for pop
    3. if no pop, stay and kill 2nd etc until all bomb dies w/o SD

this should do i guess for the SD theory
we made up of thf sam rdm brd(my dual ID)
should be easy to stun all SD

if its about speed, i wouldnt say kill fast

MAYBE kill slow because with my 3 man runs, we kill super slowwwwww because i had to pass/roll cells on 2 IDs and take alot of time to move 2 ID(1 running to bomb, 1 checking MB)

In the middle of a bhaf, MB up, didnt kill any Bifrons at all. Believe in the 50/50. Also, Bifron self-destructed, didnt despawn as expected.

Still need to see if it can be popped midrun via Bifrons.

mmmm no offense but honestly why does everyone care so much about mad bomber requirements. I'm pretty sure no group has never had mad bomber just not pop for them period... and the consensus for most groups seems to be ~50% pop without doing anything out of the ordinary so what's wrong with that? Can't we just accept it for what it is and be happy it isn't a 5% pop or something :X
