Alibee has been doing Salvage since the very beginning, I begrudge them nothing. We only started (very roughly) when the starter box was added to Salvage, and we already have someone that is close to completing a second set and has more than a few pieces on mannequins or for jobs they rarely play.

Big shit, so have I and I have less pieces than Alibee.

it largely depends on how many days a week you go and what jobs the people you come with have. i have full morrigan, full marduk sans feet, skadi legs, skadi feet, and 35's for ares feet that fell to me when i was dead, couldn't pass, and nobody wanted. most of the marduk came as freelot crap since they're primarialy gear for brd and i was the only person w/ brd who played it with any level of regularity. meanwhile, people after ares or usu are still struggling at 3-4 pieces each since everyone wants them.

I think the weirdness has been throughly beaten out of Salvage, and the only instances of weirdness are programming oversights (SS drop rates, Frog Chorus working as intended, what's the deal with pouches) or things that are conspicuously left to random chance (Mad Bomber, every RR NM spawn ever).

Lets also not forget the ever fun: Use a cell but it does not unlock it untill you use another cell or relog.

Yeah, of course. We go 4 days a week with a few low-manned runs on off-days. Still, 2 of my original members both have full Usukane, full Morrigan, and one of them have full Skadi as well.

I'd guess anyone that has done Salvage since start and go more then 2 times a week would have at least 1 full set by now.

Yeah. We got unlucky on ranged once. Cleared the entire first floor without seeing a single range drop. Mad Bomber wasn't up afterwards.

What if that's it? MB pops when x-cell is used, and x-cell is random/based on day/weather/door orbs? We know the mechanic of fully unlocked is there, why not for a specific cell?

Bhaf is real cell spammy early, and with the box if it lands magic/weapon/abilities/subjob plus the other stuff that comes out....

Most of the time you get all cells except star on first floor anyway, and IF (and I stress if) that would be the condition, it would still be out of our control if its, say, a stat cell at one point, because it can't be the same cell every time for obvious reasons.

Additionally, we never clear the first room of wamouracampas and only kill the bifrons up until the large room. I doubt it would be a 50/50 pop rate with only start chest and bifron cells.

I don't believe this, but it's easy enough to test out. I'll give it a shot on my next bhaflau...

Basically, don't use any cells to start, send a scout to each MB room. If MB is up when no cells are used, then the theory is busted. If it's not up, I'll have everyone use their cells and see if MB pops. If it doesn't pop, then one of two conclusions: myth is busted, or we didn't have the correct cell and we try it again next bhaflau.

On a side note - did anybody notice a dramatic increase in MB sightings after they added the start chest? If so, that adds another point or 2 to this theory. I remember never seeing MB before the start chest was added, but I stopped salvaging for 3 or 4 months. MB has been about 65-70% for us since then.

Either way, I still believe that MB is just random and that these 1 or 2 people who've seen him pop were just r0ing or lagging... but this theory is easy to test and only costs us maybe 2 or 3 minutes (due to fighting without cells for a while), so there's no reason not to give it a try.


Also, did Bhaflau a few days ago, results from berserk/self destruct testing:

Bomb 1: berserk used, SD used
Bomb 2: berserk used
Scout reached MB rooms, no MB
Bomb 3: SD used, but killed before it went off
4: berserk used
5: nothing
6: berserk, SD (killed before explodey)
7: nothing
Killed trolls, moved to Mothras, cleared room
Moved back to pillbugs, killed all except the 2 or 3 in the very first room
No MB before we ported up.

I'll make a guess and say the person who saw him pop in the middle of the run is European. A lot of people, myself and 3 of my Salvage members included, have had problems with lag and R0 a lot this past month.

Was the checker waiting in the room to check MB, or was he running toward the room when he saw it "pop"? I have noticed that sometimes while running around checking for mobs... when you get in visual range of the mob it will "drop" as if it had just popped, even tho it was obviously already up. Maybe due to latency/lag/pc glitch or w/e idk. Its possible this is what he's seeing.

mini-bump. Cell usage popping MB = myth busted. MB was up last bhaflau before any cells were used (none that I saw, anyway).

My group went seriously about 0/20+ on Mad Bomber pops over the course of 3 months, after we ironed out our routine and were doing everything very regularly.

But in the same time, we saw 0 Morrigan's bodies drop off rats and now we've reformed the group and we're gotten 2 Morri bodies and had Mad Bomber up every time. I don't know what causes it, but we might look in to this a little more carefully now.
