    Skill up procs!

This topic is mainly for combat skills. There is one thing in WoW that i think is far more superior to FFXI and that's the amount of time it takes to skill up combat skills. The fact that you can only proc weapon skills is if you actually land a hit. This makes it extremely time consuming to level up skills. In WoW you basically git a skill up every time you swing until the later levels which is when they start becoming more and more rare like FFXI however you can still skill up on a miss/parry/whatever. Tell me your ideas. (this of course wouldn't be priority)

I don't think OP is concerned about hitting the mob as he is with making skill ups more frequent. Putting weapon skill ups on a miss basis as well, would make it a tad faster.

Weapons are by far easier to skillup then things like parry/guard/shield.

I've never noticed an issue with skilling up any of my weapons, they are normally capped by the time I hit the next level. I think dagger was the hardest and that's just because I don't use dagger as often so I let it get behind. Now if you want to talk about guard/parry/shield, then let's talk! Four years later and guard is STILL at 99...I'd say steadily going up, but that would be a lie.

It's still a blatant grind, and why shouldn't we ask if it can be improved? Especially if a 2-handed weapon has fallen behind. I used axe from 54-59 on WAR, as I wanted to make the exp as efficient as possible (LS static). It took me several hours (and getting someone on a 75 job for help; it was a bad level range for /BST) just to make up those few levels. Even 60+, there were a few levels where gaxe still wasn't re-capped by the time I hit my next level.

Just because there are worse skillup grinds doesn't mean this one is right, and of course, the rate of skills like parry should be increased too. They did lessen the exp grind, after all; it's not an unreasonable request. This particular grind, to me, falls more under the "frustrating" category than the "keep people playing longer" category, so I don't see why it can't be alleviated.

As the leveling process gets faster imo they should check how fast you get skillups after some point as well. It might have been good enough years ago but now more problems arise, especially with lvl sync

Best fix: Pay 2000-3000 conquest points to "Improve Skill Up Rate" of one Combat or Magical skill of your choice until the end of the conquest week. Up the rate by 75%(1-200) and 50% (200+)

It would be great if they made that one of the Sigil options as well, since there are plenty of unused mobs hanging around in WotG areas. But please...don't tie it to a freelancer.

And pay 5,000 conquest points to upgrade guard/parrying/shield proc AND skill up 80%!

That wouldn't be too broken, it would make people hate SE less.

I spent 4 hours getting from 170-193 with GA on War (73) during Campaign this morning. Absurd.

2 handed weapons should get a 50% increase in a chance to skill up. That way I think it'd balance out between Dual Weilding and 2 handers.

    1) Weapons skill up fine in FFXI. I've often leveled two different weapons on 1 job. (Example, leveled marksmanship and archery on ranger from 65 to 75, and even dagger to boot.) Also leveled great katana and archery at the same time on samurai from 37 to 70. It is not a big deal and unless you are being power leveled its fine.

    2) There are of course times that you leveled one job (e.g., war) with 1 weapon (e.g., axe) and found later that you wanted another weapon (e.g., great axe) but did not want to level a new job (e.g., dark knight.) No problem! Level sync! Just drop down to the level you need and join parties and skill up. It's no longer necessary to get a PW or grind through long skill up parties.

    3) Lastly, please don't include weapon skills with the issue of guard, nor combine guard with shield and parry.

Guard is a mnk/pup only skill that only procs after shadows and requires the player to be the tank. This by itself forces it to become underleveled and then ever worse to level later for reasons that are obvious to players who use this skill.

Shield and parry have a similar issue if a person does not normally tank (i.e., not paladin or ninja), since the skill will not proc unless tanking and most other jobs would not be tanking. For ninjas at least, the nice thing is that parry procs before shadows (unlike guard which only procs after) so its far easier to solo level this skill with lower mobs.

    4) IMO SE needs to drastically adjust the proc rate on guard or to simply delete and replace the skill for monks / pups. It's rather irritating that it exists and yet is only leveled by having drastic and obtuse leveling strategies. (I.e, either drag out 25 mobs and get a power leveler and be beat on for hours, or get a power leveler and skill up for days, or level specific sub jobs and then get beat on for more days, etc.) Skills that are in the game should skill up doing normal game activities. Since monk gear and other skills do not allow them to be blood tanks except in power leveled conditions, its obvious that this skill can't be skilled up under any normal conditions.

I would not mind seeing parry and shield skill up rates boosted somewhat as well to address the issue that non tanks have problems leveling these skills. As an example, I have 5 level 75 jobs, 3 of which use parry, but my skill is a sad 120.
