Bought a new shiny red DS Lite today just to play this (well, and to play all the games I can't play since I lost my old one, but still).

Target fails for not having this game, and also for the clerk who asked me "Castle...vania... is that spelled with a y-a or i-a?" Oh well, gamestop it is, I have to let this thing charge anyway.

The boss medals are just a trophy that says "I beat this boss without getting hit. Kinda lame but I like the idea, makes the boss battles more fun. They were never challenging previously, except for maybe Gergoth (sp?) and some forms of Death.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that Kiara explained that one (the medals, etc) to me yesterday.
    Even so, thanks man.

It's all good. I wish they did something, beating some of these bosses without getting hit is a royal pain. I'm on the crab boss now, in theory this should be easy because each of his attacks has a safe spot where it can't hit you, but I'm being overzealous and keep getting barely swiped by his claw or whacked by the edge of a bubble. I have the first two medals though, and I'll get this one too. Spamming the electric attack and Torpor is helping a lot.

I wish you got more hearts, though. Three special attacks and I'm out Lame. Oh well, that would just make the game too easy.

Definitely the best DS Castlevania, and I'm only a couple hours in. Thank god they finally realized that you don't need to make the game easy as shit in order for it to sell well.

90% of the crab fight can be spent in the lower left corner spamming Macir. I got the medal pretty easily with that.

Yeah, that's pretty much true... he only had 2 attacks that could hit you @ that spot and one of them (the bubbles) is pretty much negated by spamming Macir (while also damaging him).

Basically just spam attacks and move when he tries to crush you w/ his claw... he won't even attack that spot very often it seems.

Thanks, he's dead now, crab salad for dinner tonight. I'm gonna get every single medal on my first run-through, makes the game a lot more fun and gives me a reason to fight the bosses with strategy instead of spamming your best attack and healing with potions constantly.

I have 150 or 160 hearts now in Dracula's Castle, so you do get quite alot more as you progress.

Good luck with that, couple of the later boss patterns are a real dick. I've only got 3 playing through so far but that's without actually trying for any. Just a little fyi for when you get to it, the boss that nets you the bad end if you haven't saved the villagers doesn't do damage to you by touching them. So it's ridiculously easy to avoid getting hit completely. Most people don't seem to realize this and have trouble with them when I can do it easily without being hit once.

Got up to the crab boss and I'm stopping for a bit as I'm getting frustrated. The boss itself is easy as hell, its just that if you screw up even one of those jumps going up the lighthouse you land on the crab and die.

On the final climb (the only one that's actually potentially challenging at all) just keep propelling yourself directly upwards with the magnet and ignore the side platforms.

Thanks for the tip. So far I've got all of them through Goliath. Only bosses who gave me any real trouble were the Crab boss and the Maneater. Damn those fucking jacks to hell. Rusalka was a joke, telegraphs every move from a mile away.

Edit: Ok, fuck the sand shark, this one's gonna be tough to come through unscathed.

Sand shark is easy, only hard part is ducking at the right spots when he does a big jump.

Hardest bosses for me that I couldnt get medals for where shadow guy and the big horse. I could do the horse up until I got on it's back then it was just not possible. D:

Just beat it with the "good" ending (trying not to spoil anything) and unlocked Hard, Albus and Boss Rush mode.

Pretty sweet Castlevania overall, much more challenging than the previous ones. The bosses seemed really annoying and nearly impossible at first but after a few tries and memorizing the pattern they get pretty easy. Got 2 boss medals, level 39, 190 Hearts, 692 Health after completing. Gonna try and do all the quests and get 100% on the map before doing Hard mode.

Full INT gear, 2x Nitesco and the INT+ Glyph on R absolutely destroyed the Shadow boss, he's easy to dodge until he starts going crazy and doing 2 attacks at once, after that I just spammed Union and he went down after only being able to do 1 (technically 2 I guess, since it was the shadow ball things and his melees) attack. I was the same on the big horse, can get on his back without taking damage but then his attacks are a bitch to try and avoid. Not going for medals this playthrough anyway, so I'll just get em on New Game+.

Anyone tried Large Cavern yet? I went in there and the demons in the second room kicked me for 350 damage. Died in the next room when some big thing with hammers charged me and did 250 damage just by touching me. >_>

I got to the 4th floor before giving up for now, no teleport back until after that. =/

The flying R Button glyph and 2x Globus is a popular combination for the rooms. You can get Globus from the Demon Lords in the second room it looks (although I did not), but you can definitely get it even earlier from... (Plot spoiler incoming)
    Spoiler: show
The boss fight with Barlowe, you have to absorb it right before he begins to cast it.

The flying glyph, Volaticus, is just obtained while going through Dracula's castle. Also, the Death Ring is a viable option for many of the rooms since you really should not be getting hit in some of them.

IMPORTANT: there's a timer on what I assume is ALL of the rooms where as long as you spend a long enough time in a room, the next door will open for you and you won't have to kill the enemies in the room.

Here are the strategies I was using for the rooms:

1st room: To not take any damage, turn on the flying glyph before you enter and immediately fly to the ceiling as you enter but do NOT move too far forward, otherwise you'll trigger the Cave Trolls to start moving. Just start cast Globus in mid air until the Tinmen are dead and then kill the Cave Trolls whatever way you wish (I use 2x Lance Glyph for general attacking such as this).

2nd room: This room has a lot of space for error, my best strategy is to put on the Rapido glyph (the one that makes ya move real fast) and to run all the way to the left as soon as you enter to trigger both Demon Lords into spawning and then just kite them around the room, jumping high in the air to keep them close to the ceiling while killing them with whatever attacking glyph you wish. It's better to trigger both as soon as you enter since you'll have a lot more room to kite them this way and also they won't do anything besides fly around obliviously if you keep them close to the ceiling and have the Rapido glyph on. You'll definitely want to keep the Rapido glyph on since these guys move pretty fast.

3rd room: This is an easier room: put on the flying glyph before you enter and have 2x Globus on. Simply kite the Double Hammer back and forth across the room while using Globus. Occasionally he might stop and kick upwards but you should pass by him before he hits you as long as you don't stop moving.

4th room: A Weapon Master, these guys can be a huge pain. The pattern is simple at first: flying above him will cause him to throw his swords one at a time in front of him. This is a good opportunity to get behind him and do some damage, but be sure not to be in front of him even if you're flying since the swords swing around in a half circle motion. Also, if he turns around with you still attacking he'll do a pretty quick forward attack with his sword so be careful. Once you've done enough damage, the guy will jump into the air and throw both of his swords at you diagonally and will then begin to throw daggers at you in succession in three directions (these daggers can be knocked down with attacks). If you're close to him, he'll jump in the air and spin around with a hammer while moving forward slightly.

That's what these guys do, but instead of really paying attention to this just fly above him and cast Globus. Be sure not to stay right above him since he'll eventually jump in the air and when he does just fly as far away as possible while hugging the ceiling to avoid his swords and then land and start ducking. To be in the safe zone of the daggers, you shouldn't be able to see much of the Weapon Master if any of him on your screen. Just Globus him till he dies now.

5th room: Double Double Hammers. Basically the same strategy as the single Double Hammer but you just gotta be a bit more careful.

6th Room: Double Weapon Master, this is basically the same as the single Weapon Master strategy as well. You'll want to bunch them up for easier dodging and managing and you'll just have to hope that they both throw their swords relatively at the same time, otherwise it'll get complicated

7th Room: Start this room like the first room: have the flying glyph on and fly to the ceiling right at the start to avoid the Tinmen but don't go too far into the room otherwise you'll trigger the Demon Lord to spawn. Kill the Tinmen with Globus and then kill the Demon Lord using the same strategy as the second room.

8th room: This room contains a Double Hammer and Weapon Master, so your best bet is to using the flying glyph + Globus to get them down. I haven't passed this room yet since it gets tricky once the Weapon Master starts throwing his daggers.

I don't have the flying glyph yet. I've only just beat the giant horse thing so I'm guessing it's after the Cerberus statue or something? In that first room though I just ran in with INT buffed up and spammed Nitesco and it's Union, took them all out easily. Cave Trolls aren't a problem since they go down in a couple of rapier hits (4k+ Slashing, STR gear and the STR+ glyph with 2x Wind Rings = <3). Last attempt I only got hit by the Demon Lords once killing them but ran into the next room without paying attention and the Double Hammer charged into me and killed me. Q_Q

Ya I was using Nitesco at first when killing the Tinmen but I ended up losing 60-70 HP from a few hits so I started using Globus. You'll want to stack up on high defense gear for all the guys I've seen so far definitely, all physical damage.

The flying glyph is at the northern end of the castle on the path that connects the final area to the western area (you'll have an unexplored doorway on your map leading north that you can't get to because it's too high). It doesn't sound like you're too far off though since you just got the second? cerberus glyph.
