On live I don't think it's a big deal about Rake getting "nerfed" by the lowered cooldown since the initial application is still fairly strong. When the nerf to that goes live maybe I'll worry about it, but for the time being the lowered cooldown on Rabid (which seems to be have been hotfixed somehow, it fires every 31 seconds on the dot now) is more then worth the talent points at least from my pet's POV.
I plan on using this spec for grinding anyways, so the 3/3 Longevity will be nice to have lower Intimdation/BW/etc cooldowns.
And yeah Gulk, Devilsaur may be cute, and the talent is "ok" from 71-79, but it's a really bad talent at 70 and 80 since you have to give up 11/21 points in MM to get it : /
I got a devilsaur and it seems like it does alot lower dps than my gorilla does. Just eye-balling numbers though.
I'm more on the side of don't really give a shit about super tweaking every single thing about my gear/spec to max out dps, I really don't want to give up the T-rex pet for slightly higher raid dps, just me I suppose though. The whole e-peen big numbers on damagemeters is fun, but I'd much rather have a giant t-rex pet because, let's face it, i've wanted a t-rex pet since i was like, 6.
I also don't do super-mega-endgame stuff like a lot of the people on this board though so that might also affect things
In other news, how do you guys rate certain stats in terms of importance?
Generally I just do the make sure I'm at hitcap then go for AGI->AP/Crit->Int with no real concern for mp5 at the moment (if it has it great, if not I won't exactly lose my shit over it), but I'm just wondering how you guys feel with the recent changes, especially moving the +3% hit to tier 1 on MM instead of tier 3/4 or whatever it was on SV
The "t-rex" pet is pretty lame thou. With the scaled size, they barely look any different than a raptor, they even use the same animations, and their dps isn't even any better than a cat or raptor. I'll admit I was excited about tamable devilsaurs when I first saw it on beta, but really, the only thing special thing about them is that they (along with other BM pets) bring obnoxious screenshaking and stomping SFX to everyone around you.
I can see some of the BM pets being good for pvp at 80, like the worms or the corehounds, but for PVE it still seems shitty, since you can't have beast mastery and readiness in the same build. I would probably use something like this for pve BM at 80:

Hopefully marks will be viable enough thou that I don't have to.
Gorilla's nice aoe dps more so then any other class devilsaur i like its single target dps.
Since it can benefit from icy talons, bloodlust, and any other haste effect it can have an attack well below 1second (and have a dps of its own over 1500).
So far from the many za/kara/hyjal pugs I've done, its done better dps then cat, gorilla, ravager on dps for me (does a little less then an all epic geared Bm hunter cat but not much)
I need to take pic of a recount sometime but it did only ab out 20,000 less damage in a full run za vs a fully geared out T6 hunter about a week or so 9when I had even crappier gear)
My hunter

and the hunter I recounted against in a ZA

Course my dps was hundreds of thousand slower, my pet wasn't to far behind his cat.
Like people say... longevity and speeding up its rake probably lowers its dps not boost it, while a devilsaur can spam and dps go up.
Pet should be able to go higher, I still got several blue pieces on me.
Monstrous bite, bite can do over 3000's and normal hits can go over 1500

Throwing T-rex at people is always fun.. although...
Hunters are pretty overpowered imo ;/

So you crit him for over 10k? What level/class was he?
90k HP?
isn't that the castle thing you were talking about in the beta thread that you gain certain bonuses to stats depending on the ratio of your side to the other side? (in your case horde vs. alliance)
yup wintergrasp... better hope its fixed by time it goes live! muhhahaha.. Ahahahah !
Think it was a paladin or something its been awhile.
It was like 10vs 2... you can pretty much rape everyone like that however. (the pet hit like a fucking truck)
I'm not hunter, but as sometimes I go as fury war before 3.0.2. Besides hit, for AP and Crit, I will try to set a threshold of minimum AP to achieve, then focus on crit and STR, while trying to maintain at least certain amount of crit too.
So, you might want to check around the minimum AP that required by hunter for raid, then trying to balance the AGI and crit so your crit to AP ratio won't looks bad >.>
Looks like they dropped cat a bit
Rake (Cat) focus cost reduced from 25 to 20. Damage lowered. (From 59-83 + 21-27 over 9 sec to 24-34 + 22-28 over 9 sec)
atleast the 25->20 focus is nice though for alot pets.. can spam abilities more often!
Gulk, what armor (or at least head piece) do you have in most/all of your recent screenies? Is it T7/8/9 or what, cause it looks awesome![]()
I thought it looked a little odd.. sort of like some... world war 2 helmet (without the goggles but side straps hanging down)
with little lumps on top O_o

woah are you supposed to have 90k hp?
Does scorpid poison serve as sting protection again, or are the hunters I've talked to retarded?
Cat DPS is still 100% awesome, was able to get it to about 900 dps during most of the Zul'Aman bosses today, which is honestly almost exactly what it was before the rake nerf.
I have a huntard question, and I figure it's best to just bump the thread than start a new one. So here goes:
I'm having a problem with my cat pet slipping into prowl without me wanting it to. I've taken it off his action keys and I've turned off auto-prowl in his spell/ability book. But for some reason, after what seems to be a random amount of time, auto-prowl will be turned on, without me having touched his spell/ability book. I then have to go back into his spell/ability book to turn off auto (and to bring him out of it) again.
I'm unsure what the catalyst is that instigates auto-prowl, and I guess I hoping someone here knows whats up (or at least to hear that it's happening to others also).
I've only had this problem since taming a new cat after Wotlk. I don't remember ever having this happen with other cats I had tamed at one point or another.
It's a bug since beta they've never fixed. Abilities NOT on your pets bar are subject to auto-cast toggling on and off. For now, you'll want to keep growl/prowl/cower on your bar to make sure they aren't auto-casting when you don't want them to. Check your pets spellbook from time to time also, stuff like claw/rake/dash can also randomly turn off if you don't have them on the bar, but it doesn't seem to happen as often.
