I'd make some sort of comment but anyone fucked in the head enough to do that wouldn't care what I have to say about it, I'm sure. I'm all for offensive humour, but... fuck, dude.
Douchebaggery aside, I hope the OP's friend is okay, that's a text message I'd never want to get.
Haha after reading this all I could think of was

I don't see why they wouldn't be able to identify and catch the guy. It's not some random public place where no one knows you, it's a school. Chances are someone knew him, especially in the area he was at and the people he was trying to shoot. Everyones going to be like "Aren't you that dude that tried shooting us?"
I'm not talking about alcoholics or college students drinking in bars, believe it or not people drink at their dorms & apartments. All you would need is someone carrying who's not of sound mind for a minute and shots would go off.
As to why you shouldn't be able to carry in school, because it's a school? What do you need to carry a gun for, seriously? Aside from the fact there's a low chance some crazed asshole decides to shoot up JUST the room you happen to be in on a given day? If you think carrying a gun guarantees your personal safety, I doubt that. So you've got concealed carry, won't do much if you're shot in the back. Also, account that the shooter doesn't encounter a person with a firearm, concealed carry is pointless and wouldn't be a factor.
Seriously. I mean do you see people carrying around Parachutes because their plane has a small chance of crashing? Why is it so hard for people to understand.
Concealed carry is OK in some places like others were saying, but there are times when its inappropriate. There was an article in the local paper a week or two ago about a woman getting all bitchy that parents didn't want her to carry her pistol to her daughter's soccer game. If something did happen, I'm sure everyone could depend on her to stop it, right?
On my campus, we have our own police force. I don't know about other schools, but they have bike officers patrolling all day, a few squad cars, and the campus is big enough to get to any building within 5 minutes. If someone starting shooting, I'm sure it would begin to be handled fast enough by the police, without them trying to find the first shooter with anyone that had concealed carry trying to stop the shooter.
Crazy stuff there. People go to school to learn about subjects they chose, not about life and death in a panic situation.
Guns + School = no
How fucked up does a society have to get to require guns in schools?
Say you were allowed to carry a concealed gun, and several people in the same class do too. If someone decides to start shooting people like this, what do you expect to do with your gun? Shoot the guy that's shooting other people? So then the rest of the room sees you firing your gun and thinks your involved, so one of them has the same idea and shoots you. Then someone shoots him. And it goes on until only one person is alive with a gun.
Doesn't seem like this would solve the problem.
I think most of you are overestimating the number of people who would be eligible/would want to get a concealed carry permit for a school. It's not like people would be rushing out to get handguns who never thought of getting one before just because they could carry at school. Oh, and it's not like you can't have a gun on you without a permit, it doesn't burst out of your jacket and do a little jig just because you walk into a school building to let everybody know you have it.
Not to apply labels or anything, but that is generally how the gunhappy people that are pushing for having concealed weapons everywhere would probably react.
Even if that is entirely true, the odds are high that at least one person will react that way, either out of confusion or desperation. And if just one person does react that way, then it will definitely domino from there.
How about no concealed weapons at school just openly displayed ones.... Everyone walking around with a holster on their hip with a revolver in it would certainly make a criminal think twice before pulling out his gun.
I interrupt this retarded guns on campus debate to update that CNN now says-
5 male students in custody
no one hurt
no shots were actually fired
Altercations originated at social event Saturday, continued Wednesday
Authorities believe altercation began at South Campus Building and moved
And a little something for the trolls:
The altercations started Saturday night outside a social event held by the support group Black Men at Western and continued Wednesday
have at it
