Concealed carry makes a lot of sense for deterring violent crimes where people are closer to being in their right mind. Considering that school shootings are basically suicidal people who are completely fucked up...I'm not sure how much they'd care if others were carrying. Someone acouple of posts above me said something about reaching a killing quota, but the mindset is probably closer to, "Life sucks, these people are assholes, I want to kill myself and take as many of these douche bags with me." A person robbing a store is less likely to rob it if people have guns; yea I totally agree with that. But if you plan on killing yourself in the end, what does it matter to you how many people have guns. In my opinion its too hard to predict what a person thinks when he is completely fucked up.

I'm not asking you to make a bullshit claim...I'm asking you to back up a bullshit claim of the shooter getting shot, then person who killed shooter getting shot, etc.

And I didn't claim that people were killing people with their own bodies by not wearing seatbelts...but other people did on here a few months back in a thread concerning manditory seatbelts.

Some colleges have cops roaming around on campus and people still do stupid shit.

I don't think these school shooters go to schools because the kids are defenseless. Isn't always because the shooter is pissed off at the people at school and is trying to get some kind of revenge?

The situation doesn't beg for such an extreme response; something as simple as reforming security is sufficient.

Apparantly not sufficient enough, as it continues happening. And how is allowing people to carry on campus an "extreme response"? They can carry their weapon a foot off campus, just not onto it.

concealed carry wouldn't be for the shooter, it'd be to defend against the shooter. who cares what that fucker thinks about it, should have the decency to an hero without making a mess.

Ah so Mr. Pendbrook can carry a gun I see. Having a gun in a school setting nothing can go wrong because they carry guns at their hip if not lock it in a box right? I mean it's really unheard of for say... a son break into his fathers gun cabinet or equivalent and say someone to wrestle a gun away from a cop.

If Teachers want to carry a non-lethal equivalent like a stun gun I'm all for that.

teachers don't leave their students unsupervised, and what teacher wouldn't notice a student going towards their desk?

Taking guns out of the equation altogether, it seems to me that people are saying the best way to solve violence is to make everyone sufficiently terrified of each other so that they wouldn't dare attempt anything.

...which brings me back to Kuya's sad realization on page 2

I'd be for teachers/staff getting all the proper training and evaluations to carry on campus. While not all are angels, would imagine they're less likely to show up to class drunk, tripping, or whatever else could result in an accidental shooting.

Wouldn't really trust a teen with a gun, even after growing up in an area where hunting is popular and you'd have kids skipping school to bust some caps in deer.

Guns are everywhere else. Why should a school be different? Are people more likely to attack teachers and take their guns away when on campus or some other distubring statistic I've been missing?

Look, if you want to argue that guns should be banned everywhere, that's fine, go for it. But saying "they're ok a few feet off campus, but once you cross the street onto it there's more of a chance something bad could happen" is ridiculous.

I'm saying the main reason I like concealed carry is because shooters think, "hmm other people might have a gun maybe this is a bad idea," and then there are less shootings. However, that in my opinion doesn't really apply to school shootings because of *see first post*

Really? as terrible as campus shootings are and as much as I believe that 1 school shooting is 1 to many thinking that allowing guns in a school setting is the only solution is as about as extreme as you can get.

Increasing Police Presence on the property/campus is a far better solution.

No not at all. You said increasing school security should be sufficient, and it clearly hasn't. I'm suggesting that we allow another option on top of increasing security to better curb the problem.

Yes more guns on campus will assuredly cut down on shootings.

I'm watching a teacher for 2 hours a day for a class and a student could have gotten access to their desk for around 10min of that 2 hours today because of leaving it unattended. I'm sure there are dumber and smarter teachers and a lock (which lowers the amount of time to get the gun) could be put in place too I suppose.

Right I clearly said it's the only solution. I believe my exact words were "Lets go back to the wild wild west style and have everyone shootin everyone!"

And I can think of things much more extreme than allowing law obiding people to carry a gun.
