I see no point in this study...all of the college dropouts like me (not necessarily because of MMO's) that aren't posting make this seem as if people who play MMO's aren't negatively affected by the amount of time that they can consume. Which I think as we all know, is incredibly false. Granted I don't go to college because my job at the moment pays so ridiculously well I'm afraid of losing it, but that doesn't mean everybody's in my situation.

There's a lot of qualitative data that's not taken into account.

I don't think I would have graduated at all without playing FFXI. I had a lot of shit going on in my life, I was pretty sure I was going to fail college, and was settling in to be a piece of shit for the rest of my life. Once I got my shit together I'd play FFXI only in intervals after I finished homework or studying. I know its sad, but it gave me a reason to get all my shit done, and a solid time frame that I wanted to do it in (and the quicker I got it done, the more time I'd have to play FF).

The only classes that I ever failed were before I played FF, and in my defense they were Geology 100 (The most boring class I ever had) and a Math class that I later found out I should have passed because the professor entered some grades wrong for a bunch of people, and a majority of the class that failed actually passed, but they didn't tell anyone, you had to go in and ask about it. By the time I found out, it was too late for me to get my grade fixed.

In my situation, I fully feel that FF kept me from failing out so it positive in that light. However, now that I've got my life together, I've got this horrible FFXI addiction to deal with...
