    Since Yahoo wasn't overly specific about it, and I've never heard of anything other than D2 with a hardcore mode, I'm just gonna assume she deleted the character.

    I'm sure if it were a simple deletion, they would have said so. They make it sound like PvP, or letting mobs whack at him until he died. It would be confusing and misleading to the general public if they said "kill" but meant "delete", because everyone would be thinking his character died and wonder why they don't just revive him or compensate for any death-related losses or penalties.

    Original Japanese sources say the character was deleted. They're calling it the "Maple Story Murder Case." So I'm guessing the average Yahoo reporter knows as little about Maple Story as the public they're sensationalizing the story for, and just ran it as the character being killed. I guess it worked though, because this news story is reposted like once a day in General Discussion.
