It was a decent game bought it when it came out, played it for a bit then never got back to it.
the original is one of the best RPGs for gamecube, but the 2nd (baten kaitos origins was the 2nd game, and prequel) fell a bit short of expectations. Try and pick up the first if you can, it really is spectacular
is the first one just called baiten kaitos?
Here's a pic of the cover, title and all - http://www.gamespot.com/pages/image_...php?pid=917921
First one was a great game. Had some drawbacks, including (what I felt) was a too drawn out storyline. Biggest issue of all, though with the first one... Absolutly atrocious voice acting. Thank god you could turn it off.
I never got around to getting the second one, though. Always meant to, but haven't seen it in the bargain bins yet.
Always wanted to try this, sounded alot like Lost Kingdoms (God damn those games were awesome). Is it similar other than the whole cards to battle thing?
Fuck yeah Lost Kingdom 1. Not so much 2.
thanks for the advice, going to see if I can pick up the first title for the GC before touching this one then.
Just saw this topic.
From personal experience playing both I'd say the second is better in just about every way, except for the battle system, which is slightly worse since they made a lot of equipment/item cards worthless. Voice acting was much better, the soundtrack was awesome, and the world and story were all pretty damn good. The first game had TERRIBLE voice acting and most of the other stuff was forgettable, but the battle system was more enjoyable (to me at least). It was HARD for me to play the first after playing the second, and I REALLY enjoyed Origins. I'm actually surprised so many liked the first more, second fixed about every problem the first had imo.
The "card" battle aspect of it is misleading since it's not really like any other card type game. I'd suggest watching a Youtube vid of it to get the basic idea (like this one, even if he seemed more of a novice player: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Ge0_e6I-fc ).
i never managed to find the 2nd one, but the first one was a great game. difficulty balance was off on some battles (i swear if i hear worg lazer or crazy rabbit again, i'm gonna choke a bitch...) but it was very fun. i especially enjoyed the rapid pace of trying to identify the optimal combination of cards and ordering to play them in weighting it w/ odds of what will come up next. it was a nice changeup from your standard rpg where every battle w/ the same mob set involved nearly an identical set of commands resulting in a nearly identical outcome.
people actually play tetra master?
why do you think nobody really knows what's like it?
I did, in like 2003/2004 or whenever FFXI launched. I mean c'mon. It was a whole dollar lol.
I personally felt these were two of the best RPGs from last generation(and I'm sure plenty would disagree with me...).
I'd recommend playing through BK1 before BK2, even though BK2 is a prequel, it's just one of those things where it's better to be left in the dark in terms of the story. If you play them in the "story order" (BK2 - > BK1) it just ends up feeling like a total spoiler.
