I think you missed my point. I'm all for judging him, but I judge him based on my morals. There is no universal morality. There is no correct opinion on something like RMT and about 99% of the other topics argued about on the internet. So I dont understand why people waste their time and energy discussing something like this, that honestly is pretty trivial. And yes i realize im a hypocrite for discussing it myself.

You're wrong, actually. Society reserves the right to judge you and your actions. If you don't like that society's morals, you can either work to change them, or leave for another society or start your own. Laws are enforced morals, based up on what society has deemed beneficial to it's continued existence.

In short: Live with the rules forced on you or GTFO.

Besides, a society where everyone acts according to their own morals, has usually been called anarchy. That doesn't tend to work out too well. Someone always grabs power, then forces their morals on you. That type of person has rarely been desired by most of the population.

By your logic nothing is worth getting upset about because somewhere down the road it's irrelevant....that's not how life works. Things that upset you today are important because they upset you TODAY, and whether or not they'll matter 20 years from now don't really come into play.

If someone cuts you off in traffic, that shit matters, even if it's for 30 seconds. And yeah people get upset over shit that small, it's human nature. Someone sitting in the passenger seat telling you some hippie shit like "oh man, don't worry, 20 years from now this won't matter" isn't going to defuse the situation, if nothing else they're going to make things worse because that's not a realistic way to deal with life's annoyances.

Let me preface this by saying I have never bitched about RMT before, I have always had the stance if the person wants to spend their real life money on a game then so be it. I would never spend RL money on items etc but to each their own.

As far as the Monopoly analogy, its not the same. What WOULD be the same is if someone said hey man we have been at this for 4 hours and I am really bored! At that moment someone says hey I will play for you and give you 20 bucks to get up!

Car analogy doesn't really hold since accounts technically belong to SE and not ourselves. It's more like your friend leases a car, and you help him fix it up and make it really nice, and THEN he sells it illegally and flees the country. It's not quite that severe, but that's a much more accurate analogy.

To me it's less about whether RMT (in any sense) is wrong, and more about whether it should be wrong.

Ultimately what it boils down to is whether someone's in game economic situation should reflect their real life economic situation, or whether it should be entirely separate. Should the rich people be rich in game simply because they are rich IRL? Should they not be? Why or why not?
