Don't get self-righteous with me you prat, I cornered the fucking market.

I'm not comparing apples to oranges (which, incidentally, are still fruits), I'm comparing war to murder. The fact that one is accepted and the other isn't is hypocrisy, pure and simple. What either of us think or do is completely irrelevant, because in the laws of nations and religions, there is something that expressly forbids the killing of another man under any circumstances and in the name of both, people do just that. Would I murder a man if I had to? God Damn right I would and I probably wouldn't lament it, but I killed a man with a family and in a perfect world I should be punished for that. Of course in a perfect world, I wouldn't murder anyone, but we're both idealizing, aren't we? I can't have my absolute law no more than you can effectively argue that one guy RMTing is fucking up the community any less than another guy within an organization.

The fact is laws are in place for a reason. Jay walkers shouldn't be given the death penalty, but raping one person shouldn't get less of a penalty than raping 100. Using rape and murder may strike some people as the absolute worst kind of hyperbole, but they're still very fitting and they serve the purpose of driving my point home with the intended amount of force. What am I going to do about it? What kind of childishness are you reaching for? Somehow my beliefs mean less because I can't actually bring them into being? I suppose you have one up on me, since you can start RMTing tomorrow and it'll become so mainstream selling accounts will just be another part of the game.

Have fun with that, I'll be retaining my morals.

What's sad is I came across this blog the other day,

    http://ffxi.com/

and to anyone who doesn't google search and types "ffxi.com" the same way they'd do wow.com to expect to see an official site (or at least an unofficial fansite that's got all the goodies), instead sees quotes like :

I haven’t purchased FFXI gil in quite a while so I don’t really know what’s going on, but if you’ve recently placed an order and would like to share your shopping experience, leave a comment. I’d like to know the latest scoop from the gil buyers themselves.
As for moi, to get away from the daily grind (hey, I have a life outside FFXI, ya know!), I invest in the occasional gil from sites like IGE.com. And no, I don’t a give a second thought about purchasing virtual currency. Life is too short to waste arguing about the EULA.
    *insert facepalm*

This dude is a scumbag, and the fact that this blog is up on a link that would probably generate a lot of clicks is sad.

I just hope it's a well excecuted troll site.

Actually going through the links, it looks like a site made by IGE. Any link in regards to FFXI all links back to IGE, knew something was up with the site, they're trying to play off gilbuying as something you do as casually as shitting on the toilet. Look at the tone and the fact they want feedback from gilbuyers.

I never had a problem with my LS mates RMTing their accounts when they quit. I think the problem I had with employed RMT (IGE, china, etc) was the fact that it was their job to interfere with other players who are there for enjoyment. I don't mind getting beat to the punch by someone who intends to reinvest their gear/item/gil into fun, even if they RMT down the road. I do hate getting beat by people who's sole purpose it to reinvest their efforts to money. I have the same distaste for someone in an LS who gets a big money item and quits 3 days later. It comes off to me as someone who waited to get thta item with the full intention to sell it once obtained. That pisses me off. I didn't RMT my account, but I did RMT my herald's gaiters which I had owned for a couple of years. I used the money and bought a more christmas presents than you could ever imagine (may have seen the pics lol). I understand the black and white RMT=RMT argument, but it's much more contextual for me.

Personally I've never had huge problems with people selling their accounts as at least they've done the work for the cash recieved... but saying that....

I do hate the people who buy the accounts. Mostly because they try to hide behind the thin veil that they really did do all the work involved or that they somehow deserve all the gear they have etc. etc. That and a usual overall lack of skill that's gained by actually playing a job.

I was in the tree a few months back leveling NPCs with a few people when we stumbled upon a beastmaster with a guttler up in the tree trying to solo goobs... And I definitely stress the 'trying' part. He pretty much couldn't down a single mob up there without dying (and he had to lose at least 10k xp from how many times he reraised and kept trying). Now tell me how a regular player can get that far in his job, buy a relic for it and then be completely incapable of killing some of the easiest things for it to do? Maybe he really wasn't a bought character and was just that bad, but this is the kind of result I expect from someone who's bought an account.

Considering you have to sell your account for someone to buy it... I guess I don't care for people who sell accounts either, but who wouldn't be tempted by some cold hard cash after leaving a game you've been playing forever?

That's awfully close to not having problems with gil sellers, since they've done the work for the cash received. What makes it different?

My biggest problem with account buying is the nature in which most of the people buy accounts. Not that I have raw data to back this up or anything, but I have a sneaking suspicion that most people who buy accounts do so because they have been banned off their previous one. And coming back to the game after being caught cheating is really what

    Grinds my Gears.

As quoted above, if they actually worked for the gil in a fair manner without using bots, warp hacks, account hacks etc., I don't know if I really would have a huge problem with them except for the same reason I stated for account buying.

However, as it stands now, they use any method they can to screw over the players and that makes it pretty evil overall for all of us playing. I don't know about you, but I hate how I have to feel like I'm constantly looking over my shoulder every time I'm on the interwebs.

Ryko from skirk's laptop: It affects the ffxi world negatively and one shouldnt do it.

That said, if you're quitting chances are you couldnt give a shit about the ffxi world anyway which I guess is a self-justifying statement but so be it.

A large number of the people selling their account botted NMs, or have been suspended for POS/something or have fish botted or bought gil or some other shit. I don't know the percent, but I bet it is fairly large. If the person is perfectly clean - fine, your point is valid, if not then to me it starting to look like more of the same.

RMT is bad until you are the one quitting yourself. That's how it will always be, don't bother justifying it. When you no longer care about something, in your mind it doesn't matter what the fuck you do with it.

I had this emo period a couple years back where I thought about selling my account, and at that time I saw nothing wrong with it whatsoever. If you want it to be "ok", your mind will tell you it's "ok".

    Not quite.

It also depends on WHO the said person is RMTing.

As quoted, when Sath or Ryko sold their account, it was swept under the carpet fast.

If it was me or Stan...shitstorm on BG 40+ pages within a day.

Personally, I've never really cared about RMT unless they were in my way, blocking me from doing something, but I could say the same thing about actual players. And from the perspective of someone who doesn't craft, RMT tend to make consumables like food, ninja tools, etc. far more affordable.

    I think it also has to do with people liking you and stuff. If I recall many people on the forums like Ryko and Sath so no one really gave a shit about it. You and Stan, on the other hand, for some reason have a cloud of negativity over your heads and I really dont know why lol. Maybe some people are jeleous? Idk ._.;

Just because you feel that way doesn't mean everyone does. Though there are people here like you that "do it for the lawlz" I would say that most people think that Sath and Ryko were total douches for selling their accounts and especially Ryko for lying about it, and even worse because they weren't douches before.

At least you are consistently a douche. I would actually be less surprised if you sold your account, at least you would not be a hypocrite.

I am horribly idealistic about RMT. I have straight up told a friend that sold his account that I thought he was a douche bag, and hoped that he would never come back. I am definitely not perfect, and I even recognized that I go way too far sometimes and have to reel myself back in. The most marginal thing that I get upset with is profiteering, because some profiteering has to come from RMT, but a friend told me once that there is a limit to profiteering and if you have decent limits that helps limit out the risk of getting gil from gil-buyers over rich players. That seems reasonable and pragmatic to me.
