Front wheel drive cars > Rear wheel drive cars in the snow.

Of course, All wheel drive cars > all in the snow. I assume that's what you meant.

For the record, I think its absurd how insurance companies can just up and drop you for various reasons- I can understand an insurance company being upset if you sign up and total a car within a few weeks, but was just talking to a friend of mine the other night who's entire family had home+medical+driving insurance through a major provider for years... and because one of them got into an accident (which was just that, an accident) they dropped the entire family, all of their plans. Seems downright wrong to me, that's what insurance is there for, to cover that happening- funny how they'll charge you while nothing is wrong and when something happens they get rid of you almost as a punishment.

    Edit:
Front wheel drive cars > Rear wheel drive cars in the snow.

Sounds like the insurance co's loss to me.

My friend used to sing the jingle "Like a good neighbor...State Farm will dropyouassoonasyougetaDUI" (not that I blame them, but it's still a funny jingle)

We have a 4x4 truck and I've own a civic that I drive back and forth to work daily. When locked in, obviously the truck handles much better, but only turning the rear 2 wheels, the truck is a fucking trap. When the wheels start sliding on the honda, you don't have the force that swings your ass end around like on the truck. I've always preferred my Honda in snow. Never driven an AWD car in the snow, but I'd assume it'd handle itself quite nicely. None-the-less, the civic is quite easy to control in those conditions.

Yeah, RWD is only good in the snow if you like putting gold bars in the trunk.

I prefer the oversteer to no steering at all.

i had a similar situation happen to me, and my insurance company didn't drop me, and they wrote me a check for the loan amount

slightly off topic, i got screwed by the police officer who came to write the report (he didn't even fill the report out, he made me and the other kid fill our own out)

he basically placed me at fault, even though it wasn't my fault

i backed out of a drive way, and this guy drove right into me. now, before you start thinking "when you back out of a drive way, you're always at fault if you are in a collision with someone", this is only true when you collide with someone who is driving on the right side of the god damn street.

basically, the kid drove around a parked car and came over into what would be on-coming traffic to him. that was the side of the street i was backing out into, and he smashed the shit out of my truck in the process, my ins. company declared it a total loss as a result

insurance increase was negligible, and i don't believe points in california transfer to another state, and with him getting married and turning 21, his insurance has come down significantly. if it went up, wasn't much.

    Update: car is totaled.

New question: the insurance company said they will call me next week and the appraisers they have will "negotiate" a price for me to settle on. anyone ever negotiated with an insurance company? My concern is that dent that was on there before the accident deemed the car not in "perfect condition" but it would have cost around 600 to fix. However, if they take it as evidence to make it in "good" condition ill lose thousands on the appraisal. Are they ever apt to meet halfway? Or at least take that kinda stuff into consideration?

did they know about the dent before hand? (did you claim it, or not?)

If not... just say the dent wasnt there before the accident.

If you've had very recent repairs done to the car and gotten new parts (tires, brakes, etc), and have receipts for proof, depending on your company they may credit the parts cost back into your payout since it was still "new" equipment on the vehicle.

At least they did when I totaled one a few years ago, but my company (USAA) is liek srsly awsum, so YMMV.

I think it's pretty hard for an 8 year old car to still be in "perfect" condition, so don't cry to hard if they call yours "good", especially with a dent.

when I was in my car accident the insurance guy said that they base the price of the car on blue book value in your region I believe they look for cars exactly like yours with the same mileage and what not... Also it's totaled if the damages are 75% or more than what the cars worth

    will insurance fuck me?
    You have to be young.

Yes, they will fuck you as hard as they can. The more you struggle not to get fucked, the more it makes them want to fuck you. If you scream in pain, it turns them on. I don't know what you hit, but I hope you have a lawyer if someone else was involved.

All joking aside, you're gonna get fucked.
