1M Gill isn't really that much. Plus, there is always a possibility that the ways this group have to make gil wasn't affected by the bannings.

actually the fact that 1 million gil is $41 is probably a good sign. i never paid attention to numbers but i'm pretty sure gil used to be much cheaper?

A couple years ago just before Christmas I believe 1M gil was very cheap but I don't remember the numbers. Then again, gil might as well have been growing on trees at that time.

I'm pretty sure that they never completely ban every single gil seller in the game with each sweep, so having gil sellers "already at 1 mil" isn't really that surprising.

I am receiving this message as well almost daily. The latest one I got was from tytyte. I spoke with a GM about it and basically what he told me was that it seems that these people are sending out messages by adding the header to make it seem its like a friends request, but instead they would add their own text. It just looks too much like a script to do this. The only way i see this ceasing is by adding some form of authentication (random letters or adding some form of check of the originator).

It is starting to get annoying though.

Just a month or two ago some bozo confessed to me that he paid $9.99 for 500k, so $41 for a million is a 100% increase in price over that. Incidentally, if you watch for new characters with a trash item in their bazaar for some large amount of gil (which will always be a multiple of 500k), you can observe them to occasionally catch low-end gil buyers as well as RMT banks. The bank character will transfer the money by buying the trash item, then the new character will send it via the delivery box. Doing it this way presumably circumvents the per day per character gil sending limit, as well as the logging of traded gil. Anyway, you know how sometimes you will go to enter a character name for the delivery destination, only to accidentally /say it instead? RMT make the same mistake. That's how I found the above mentioned bozo.

The STF is actually doing a pretty damn good job, or at least that's what most people should think. The fact that RMT have resorted to such drastic measures(account theft) is proof of this. The monetary value of gil is also at an all time high from shortly after the game was released in the US. Mogs lists it for $4.40/100k. Compare this to $0.39/100k, the cheapest I can recall from around two years ago.

Account theft isn't related to anything the STF is doing or not doing. ALL MMO's are being hit by this. The relevant factors are the development of criminal hacker gangs in China and/or Russia. As for the price, it's also affected by the amount of gil in general circulation, which has been going down as well. Most RMT gil is made by selling stuff to other players, whether it is farmed, fished, or stolen off of hacked characters, and thus RMT gil income is strongly affected by the state of the economy overall. Comparing gil prices without bothering to correct for inflation/deflation can only be meaningfully done across a short time span; the $9.99/500k figure I quoted above is less than two months old, and the economy hasn't changed much in that time, so my conclusion is meaningful. So the STF has done well lately, but they need to do better, and they need to keep adapting or they'll fall behind again.

I didn't know there was a limit for sending through delivery box. I mean i know about the 1mil, but I didn't think sending multiple gil transactions would cause for flags. Almost required to have a second char to send gil from one char to its mule ><. It makes sense though.
