Just got back from EJ Malloy's in Long Beach. Good fucking times. Was hoping the Magic would try to keep it close but man did the Lakers suddenly figure out how to play defense or what? Every shot aggressively contested, they were HUNGRY for that cookie.

Congrats to the Lakers. They definitely deserved it. They had the best player and the best coach. The Magic really need to fire Van Gundy if they want to go anywhere but that is unlikely since he made it to the Finals against all odds. There were so many bone headed things Van Gundy did that cost him games or nearly cost him games throughout these playoffs.. He might be able to get away with it against an equally bad coach like Mike Brown but no way was he going to get the best of Jackson. You could have switch coaches and I think the Magic would have won 4-1 too.

The biggest disappointment was how they used Dwight Howard. They have a dominant center who gets great position under the baskets a zillion times a game and his teammates can't/don't give him the ball. Plus on pick an rolls he often has a clear path to the basket and they would rather pass it to someone for a three. It's really sad.

I actually wish the Magic did not make it to the Finals this year so that they would fire their coach and not waste Dwight Howard's prime.

Dwight Howard is a good player, however, I'd like to see him work more on his post game. I believe most of his points come off of offensive rebounds or plays that were created by other players. He needs to be able to create his own shots and work on that during the offseason. One of the things that I believe that he needs to focus on primarily is when he catches the ball, he needs to not bring the ball down, he should keep it up high and just elevate to the rim. I mean, he's shown us time and time again from those dunk contests that he can get up there. Last Dunk contest he dunked on a 13 foot rim, of course it wasn't vertical leaping skills but he should be able to just take the ball straight up and dunk over other players. At any rate, he's still young and it will be interesting to see him develop into one of the leagues next best centers.
