ESPN cares about ratings, which is why it was the third story behind NASCAR. No one is arguing that the Spurs are a bad team, they're just boring as fuck and don't get ratings which was the whole argument in the first place.

Ratings wise it only made sense for them to put the Lakers vs Cavs game first since the Lakers vs Celtics game were the highest rated cable game since Jordan vs Magic in 1996. Plus this was a number 1 ranked team vs the number 2 ranked team. While the Spurs vs Celtics game was a number 6 ranked team vs a number 3 ranked team, and the Spurs haven't exactly drawn good numbers in the past.

I'm actually curious what the Sunday games ratings were....the NBA is getting rejuvenated in ratings with the Lakers,Cavs and Celtics as championship teams.

pardon me for commenting on the rankings of the 4 teams that played yesterday regardless of the spurs rank over all in the league it was #2 in the west vs #2 in the east
and #1 in the west vs #1 in the east (as W/L records stand).

and yes pretty much on even given day the San Antonio Spurs are the most dangerous team in the league; anyone that understands basketball knows this.

oh and f' nascar it should never be #2 story in todays world they're losing money out their ass pretty soon i wouldn't be surprised if the organization receives 0 coverage in somewhat near distant future..

I really don't understand your whining.

A real fan doesn't care about ratings or why other people don't like to watch your team. A real fan would just be happy enough that their team exists and is at least attempting to compete at a high level. So stop compensating for your teams low popularity by trying to put down other teams, it's not going to magically make your team the end all be all.

You want to know what draws ratings? rivalries and fastbreak "showtime" offenses. What real rivalries do the Spurs have? the only one I can think of is with the old Phoenix Suns, where even that was pretty bleh. There is no intense rivalry between the Spurs and Lakers, every time they meet both teams act like they are great friends and go about their way. Real rivalries that make people watch are Magic vs Bird (Lakers vs Celtics), superstar vs superstar etc...

In the past, offense wise most of the time you'll just see a one man fast break from Parker. Now you see a few more good offensive plays from their younger guys or from Manu but nothing spectacular. No spectacular passes or alley oops which tend to make non Spurs fans stay and watch.

ESPN broadcasts stuff first that the audience is most interested in hearing about and how they know what the audience is interested in is by ratings.

The Lakers vs Cavs game rated the highest NBA season game ever on ABC and rated higher then most playoff games that are played on ABC, thats pretty nuts.
