You have to remember Cavs play alot of team defense and not One on One.
How do you figure someone who's averaging like 44 minutes a game has the speed and endurance to play their best player on defense. Even on the great bulls teams, Pippen was the guy helping out on the double-teams and moving around guarding multiple positions. Jordan, alot of times, would stick to their best player, but it was pippen moving and helping to give Jordan a bit of a break.
Team defense still requires good individual defensive players, and right now Cleveland's team defense isn't really doing much.
umm Jordan hardly ever guarded the best player, he was the roamer while Pippen guarded the best player on the team.
Lebron NEEDS to guard the best player because he doesn't have a Pippen, he has a defensive post player and a offensive guard.
EDIT: If Kobe can do it for 3 seasons I'm sure a much more athletic Lebron can do it.
Jordan guarded the best player more times than not. Pippen's size placated to that defensive style, although he would get owned by some of the centers and larger forwards when he was shifting around.
Trying to find something to dog on Lebron about? Stop hatin Stee. LOL
Orlando has so many weapons, Lebron cant be everywhere.
The way he's advertised, people sure seem to think he can be!
No, I kid. I think defensively, he does all he can. It's not like he has an All-NBA Defensive teammate or anything on the court with him. I mean sure, Ben Wallace WAS a good defensive player, but this isn't his Detroit days.
Was a good game for Team LeBron, but I'm not liking their chances in Orlando. Then again, I dunno. I said earlier that if Cleveland wins this game and stops Orlando's momentum, they could do something special in Game 6. We'll see.
How is saying that Lebron should guard the best perimeter player of the Magic hating on him?
And it was Pippen that guarded Magic Johnson in the finals not Jordan.
No, it was Jordan in the first two games. Not Pippen. Jordan started out guarding him, but Jordan couldn't stop the post-up, so Jackson switched Jordan to Worthy on a sprained ankle. Jordan also guarded Penny and Drexler, though you could argue that Shaq and Hakeem were the best players. I'm a Jordan historian.
edit: I have like, 3 Jordan jersey's in air-tight vacuumed cases in my closet. I've been to Chicago about 7 times ato see him play (sucks I was too young to really understand the greatness).
Yeah he guarded Magic in the first 2 games but got owned so they switched to Pippen who took care of Magic defensively.
I'm not going to argue Jordan history with you cuz well I was barely alive in that series, even if you are right, then this should be more incentive for Lebron to guard the best perimeter player.
After the Lakers-Bulls finals, Pippen almost always defended the other teams best perimeter player.
In the Lakers-Bulls finals, MJ was on Magic for about a game and a half at the start before they shifted Pippen onto him.
