problem with PS3?

figured this would be best section for this question. Thursday I tried logging into playstation store but needed to update. I was going to do some campainge battles so decided I would update after I was done playing FFXi. Anyway I did the update when I was done with FFXI and checked auto shutdown when it was done updateing. So I try to hop on FFXI on ps3 yesterday and its says I need to create a new partition(???) saying it will take up 2048mbs and should take aprox 2 minutes to create. failure to create file will result in not being able to play the game. This some rmt crap trying to hack through ps3 now or is this legit. Anyone else have this? the other day when I had the update come up was first time in a long time I tried connecting to PSN so not sure when the update came out.

Just checked my ps3 ffxi, I'm getting the same thing. Going to just guess that ver2.5 removed the partitions to add some of the features, the chance of it not being legit are super slim ~


Going to create the partition right now just in case you need someone to try it.

Edit: seems to work perfectly fine. Also partitioning is a common thing people do with their (expanded harddrive) ps3's to add things like other operating systems.

that's what I was thinking too as I don't surf the web or anything with my ps3 just games and download demos from PSN. Didn't think it could be possible but wanted to be safe
