Yes I'll agree with the comment about legnth, but like I said I can wait for more user generated content, it'll make it a better purchase for me personally and I challenge you to make that level.

Sad part for me is if I did buy it right away it would get lost in the fray with fable 2, resistance 2 and fallout 3.

Is the open-world aspect of Fallout 3 like the old Fallout games or like Oblivion?

I liked that Fallout left you to your own devices, but you always had a niggling feeling that you really needed to get going with the main quest/plot. It had just the right sense of urgency.

Oblivion just sort of spat you out into the world and that was it. The "I've got something to do" feeling was never there.

It pulls from a little bit of both, just because oblivion was open world, thats about all it has in common. It plays and feels like its true to the fallout series to me.

What kind of story does LBP have? It's one of the few games I honestly can't think of a story to go with.

Technically, every area has it's own story and then I believe there is an overall story to encompass all of the areas. Like in the Africa area you have to save a meerkat and get it back to it's mom.

Press reviews have already pointed out LBP's short story mode, something in the area of 4-6 hours. For me, it falls into the category of games that I absolutely love but refuse to spend full price on because I blow through them in 1-2 nights. The devs themselves have pointed out the main focus is the user-generated content, which will take some time to accumulate to a point that you have true replay value (unless you want to create levels, of course).

Both LBP and Fallout3 are going to be great games, but in terms of bang-for-your-buck you really can't beat 100+ hours of open-ended gameplay. Oblivion was and probably still is the best value for your money (completing ~98% of everything you could possibly do in the game/expansions took me 247 hrs total) in terms of 3rd-gen games, and if Fallout can even measure up to half of that it'll be well worth it for me. I guess it depends on where your interests lie, I want to play LBP pretty badly but I'm gonna wait til the price starts to drop.

I also have an incredible backlog of shit to play/finish, including Infinite Undiscovery, Tales of Vesperia, Fable 2, Dark Sector, Chibi Robo: Park Patrol for DS, FFIV, DQIV, Skies of Arcadia: Legends for GC, Silent Hill Origins, Baten Kaitos Origins, Rogue Galaxy, and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Summoner... so I probably won't be expanding my ps3 library to include Eternal Sonata and LBP until the new year, at the earliest DX

Maybe if you rush through the game as quick as possible and don't do any of the extra unlocked missions. I'm maybe a third of the way through the game and I've spent at least 3-4 hours on it already. Mind you I am getting 100% on each level but isn't that the point?

Also some press reviews were saying there were only 25 levels in the story mode which also seems incorrect since I'm, like I said, a third of the way through the game and I've already played on 20 different levels.

It's a great platformer. I mean, if it were JUST that it'd be a fun game still. Add in the customization and there you go.

I think if people still go nuts over 2-d megaman games then LBP should easily be something to get excited about.

Really, it's the first real build a level from complete scratch and publish so other people can play it type of game on a console. Some of the levels people build are amazing. There is a video on youtube of a guy who built a level called Azure Palace that is incredible. Some guy made a working electronic/mechanical calculator using something along the lines of like 200 switches. I can see why certain people would or wouldn't enjoy the game or not even see why people like it. Wii Music is going to sell like crazy but I certainly don't see what's so special about it just as an example.

You could say Forge from Halo 3 is a level editor but honestly that's pretty laughable. Placing a few boxes and turrets hardly qualifies as a level editor in my opinion.

Yeah LBP has gotten me really excited with the level editor. I love the idea of being able to create my own levels, and it just seems like LBP has everything in place to make the possibilities endless.

On its own, it is still a very fun platformer. The physics in the game are simply amazing. Tons of collectibles/puzzles. And sackboy deaths are just flat out funny.

I'm excited for Fallout 3 as well, but personally, the potential to create just about anything trumps all for me.

It's a game that you go from point A to Point B with obstacles, a merio type game.

A lot of people like games for that, so you will have people that want to play the game for the fun of getting through a difficult level.

Then you will have people that will play the game just to create new levels and show off, maybe get alot of hits on theirs like a good youtube video.

So it hits separate audiences. You get the fun of playing this cute game for what it is, and always having new content available from others online, maybe find some retarded hard Jumper-like levels and become one of the only people to best it. A game with great physics and LOTS of puzzles. And you will have people that just want to get the most hits, the most downloads of their level, and will create and create just to be on top of that list.

Like a porn stream, do you watch the one thats been added only a few minutes ago? Or do you start with the one that everyone else is watching right now? Or do you see which one has been watched the most, or rated the highest?

And the physics in lbp are probably some of the best platforming physics I've ever seen. Where things actually have different masses and pieces of the level can interact with other pieces.

Also theres great multiplayer features to the game, and a lot of the collectibles you can get are only available when you are playing with someone else (like someone holding down a switch ot both of you using your combined weight to move a heavy object)

I did just notice how cool Fallout 3 looked. I've never played any fallout games before but that did look pretty interesting.
