Linksys WRT54GX2 v1 Constantly rebooting itself

Starting last night my WRT54GX2 started rebooting itself repeatedly. Last week I had it drop out on me a few times but while streaming shows to my 360 and PS3 last night it went batshit insane. It'd stay connected for anywhere from a few seconds to a few minutes then reboot. I have the newest version of firmware from the Linksys website and I haven't had any problems with it for the year and a half that I've owned it up until the past few days. I can't even keep a connection long enough to open Firefox and go to sites because it just keeps cycling. Here is a chunk of the bottom of the log from last night when it started rebooting if it helps at all since I have no fucking clue what it means:

Try doing a hard reset on the unit. Not quite sure how to do this for a linksys router since its different for every router. Also, you may want to try going back to an older firmware version or reflashing the current firmware

I've had the current version of firmware for a while now; I suppose it can't hurt to reflash it though. As far as a hard reset, you mean resetting everything to factory defaults?

Linksys routers have some sort of compatibility issue with the consoles, this can be fixed by "hacking" the firmware, basically installing an alternate version of firmware.

This is the one that I used, haven't had a single problem since and it was super easy to install if you just follow their guide.

It's not just with my PS3 though, it was rebooting on me all day today and I wasn't touching my PS3 or 360. :/

I'll try the modded firmware and hope that it works. :D

EDIT: That site doesn't list my router as a supported device. -_-

Well, this is a bit different than the one I thought you had. Call linksys, they should be able to sort it out quickly.

If you have uPnP enabled and you're using your ps3, your router will reset on occasion, I disabled media streaming and upnp for my ps3/router and I no longer have that issue, maybe give it a try and see if that helps.

Disabling media streaming is not going to help me stream media to my PS3. >_<

I'll try disabling uPnP(since I shouldn't need it anyway) and hopefully that fixes it. Just seems fucking weird I'd have problems with it now after not a single problem for half a fucking year.

EDIT: uPnP disabled changes nothing. The router starts going fucking nuts as soon as the PS3 boots up. I'm going to retry media streaming on my 360 and see if it goes apeshit like the PS3 is.

Edit2: Piece of shit is doing the same thing with my 360 now. I can hop online with either console but the moment I start trying to stream shit the router goes bananas. I haven't changed ANYTHING, why is it broken? -_-

How do I know which thing I need to download? O_O

A couple of friends from Geek Squad suggested setting up a DMZ for my PS3 and 360 but the router only supports one DMZ IP. Can I have my 360 and PS3 share an IP address or is that going to fuck things up even more?

If possible I'd like to get this shit working without having to flash some custom firmware onto the router or buying a new one.

Bumpity bump. I assigned a new IP to the router and put a static IP on the 360 and PS3 and set them as DMZs. The PS3 still forces the router to reboot the moment it powers on but I actually got through half an episode of Californication before it rebooted and knocked the 360 off. :/

This shit is so stupid. -_-

Yeah I used to have the same issue, it's the media streaming from the ps3. Although this doesn't really help, just not sure of another way around it (besides getting another router) since you want to use the media streaming.

Is your net connection spliced before it gets to your modem? I had problems with my connection re-setting due to my cable line being over-spliced and thus causing my router to reset. I have a cable line spliced multiple times to 2 TVs and the modem. I put the modem earlier in the line before the final splice and it seemed to help the signal.

I was just having almost identical problems, and got fed up with it after a few days, went and bought a Belkin N wireless router.

Everything runs better, my Xbox 360, PS3, FFXI, and even websites seemed to respond quicker. I doubt i will ever buy another linksys again with the problems i have had in the past.

In general the WRT54GXXXX series have been iffy, but they can be great if you flash custom firmware onto them. One of the biggest things is turning off UPnP. Although I've never encountered the media streaming issue with it rebooting, I know it doesn't like UPnP at all. In all seriousness, they need to revise the router so it actually works properly with its factory firmware.

Don't ever ask these guys for tech advice again lol, they clearly have no idea what a DMZ does if they're advocating you put your PS3/360 into that zone for simple intranet media streaming.

It was just one of several suggestions including reformating my computer. -_-

What model Belkin N router did you pick up? I'm tired of fucking with this router and am furious that it died after half a year.

Shameless bump!

Because I'm a stubborn prick I still haven't picked up a new router and have instead been trying to figure out what the hell is wrong with this one. I refuse to accept that it's broken so I reflashed the firmware and at least it's not choking the moment I hop online with my PS3 or 360. I've been getting random reboots occasionally the past couple of nights so I think I may be okay. Although I still can't find a CFW that works with it.

All I changed was setting my wireless mode to G-only instead of mixed and changed my data rate back to the default(it was set to 1-2mbps as per Nintendo's instructions to get my DS working with it). I figure if I want to hope online with it I'll change it myself.

EDIT: As I'm typing this my router rebooted. -_- Here's the log:
