It also depends on gear and level range. On ranger, if I level sync I make sure its 55+ so that I can use my ebow ungimped.

    I'd assume WAR's would want 59+, etc.

i accept them if i want to exp. i have been in terrible lvl 20 syncs but that wasn't the syncs fault. my sam is 66 atm and as some mentioned, i hate syncs <60 because it forces me to enpi, enpi and more enpi. in such a case, i'll just start a movie and play dd without trying to epeen parse stats. i've yet to find a coli pt with less thank 12k/hr and that's nice exp for not having to lfp hours upon hours. imo, once you pass 55ish you should always accept sync as you end up on colis.

Anything Post-TOAU = ffxi CANCER. It's slowly killing the little remaining skilled players by making it easier then ever to coat along with their gimp gear/jobs.
Actaully, with its content ToAU is keeping FFXI alive. Pre-ToAU it wasn't any better (full AF melee, melee bards, gimped subjobs, fierce competition for exp camps, slower exp, no sanction bonus, no other means of getting decent exp. etc etc.).

Besides, "little remaining skilled players" should be greatul since Nexus/weapon camps are almost always available now.

level syncing has acttualy somewhat killed Merit pts here, but i personaly don't like it when leveling newer jobs, skilling falls behide and it get's annoying, they could at least let you skill up while under the cap and for GOD'S SAKE, need some text to let us KNOW what the equipment we are nerfing is acttualy going to be, this guessing game of "what are your stats on that thing?" is pretty stupid.

Yeah..most wars would hate to loose their precious hauby at a level they had to live without it -.-

Either way, I just find it funny how people turned a feature designed to help friends level (since you get someone to join, you're higher level and have no low level jobs to level with them..what then? Level sync introduced!) and made it into the leveling norm.

When I just got my Relic I wanted to get the merits I have been holding back. (random Ninjutsu stuff)

So I go to MERIPO PT seek.....

1st Invite - Level Sync to 37. Guy gets pissed when I say I do not want to join. Tells me about how this is good exp. I tell him I wanna play with my relic and he tells me I am an elitist asshole. The guy is named "Biglabowsky" and I tell him that movie was the biggest waste of my time ever.

2nd Invite - I now have LevelSync = X in seacom. PT invite... to a level 71 sync PT. I tell them no thanks.... guy gets pissed. Tells me how 71 good exp and his wife is a Cor. I ask him is he can read - he tells me he doesn´t care.

3rd Invite - A 66 WHM. Didn´t care to read my seacom. Says he needs a tank desperatly. I tell her that I am sorry but I want to get exp on 75. She sends me like 2 more tells begging for a tank.

The next PT invite I got was from an old JP friend for a chain 280 PT at Mamools so it was all fine after.

People think that if you do 20-30 dmg a hit when you normally do 50-60 a hit that you're horribly gimped by being level sync'd. But if you watch other people's dmg, you'll see you're doing about the same if not more dmg than them. I sync'd my 72 mnk down to 33 and was doing more than 50something drks combined as far as WS dmg.

And people who complain about not skilling up their weapons, it does not take that long to cap it. I spent from 65-71 level sync'd. It took me about 40K xp to cap my h2h which was about 2 parties worth in the mire. For other skills like shield and parrying on tank jobs, it's more understandable. But if you got DD that won't sync down because their axes won't be as good, they're just butt hurt over their epeen rampage dmg.

Some jobs are also more popular. Pld for instance. You can wait around and get a level sync range you like. For other jobs less popular like my mnk, I take any pt I can get. I don't calculate xp/hour and base how well a pt is doing by how bored I am; the less, the better. One of the best pts I had was in the dunes at lvl 17-18. We had the same 3 people who were actually lvl 23+ (I was in my 60's) and we kept rotating people in as they would get 1-2 levels and then say they had to go while we kept getting awesome xp on gobs.

Certain camps are better than others, but depending on the job and your mood, you can be picky, or get some xp. Sometimes I like sync'ing down to lower levels where you don't use sushi. saves me money. Other times, I like to change things up, or go back to the old camps where I used to level. I can only think of one party where it wasn't all that great, but it was a 60+ Colibri camp. Any other level sync pt I've gotten has been decent to awesome.

One last cool thing about level sync at least for my mnk is my guarding skill is so low that sync'd down to the 80-100 skill range helps level my guard skill without being smacked around.

Is sad how you go backward instead of forward... sometimes i get bored just watching the same ws over and over again, when i get a pt of my same level i got -30 skills on weapon soo is kinda shity, i starting not to level sync at least 5 levels below my level is ok but lower it sucks... i really want to start hitting toau areas lol...

maybe for a brd mage will not suck but for a melee will suck

My BLU has done nothing but level synch the whole way to 72. Only get exp if I level synch :< Mostly tho I have been synching with ls mates so that I know it is a decent party. If I am making a pt with random noobs I am trying to make sure I am the lowest level so that I can synch me and get Blue Magic Skill Ups. Trying to learn spells with gimp ass Skill sucks ~.~ I generally say in my search that I will level synch altho I did draw the line yesterday when my 72 BLU got invited to a level 17 dunes party ~.~

I have a lot of problems with level sync. The shortlist -

    • the parties doing it are often gimpy idiots/shortbussers with the last 2-3 people of thier level, looking for someone to hunt an already grossly overcamped area. This is especially bad for tanks - I swapped over to my nin/war to blow an EXP scroll and got three /sync invites in minutes, all for the Jungles.

    • The person running it is a tool (roughly 80% of the time so far) who doesn't understand how the EXP system works and/or keeps synching down to 12/20/25/50 so he doesn't have to deal with anything but crabs/mandies/colibri.

    • one or more of the players is grossly incompetent, naked, and often AFK, but stays in the party "because he's a friend" of the tool running it.

    • The people in it don't understand just how drastically it downgrades equipment, skills, and abilities, and think EVERYONE should be happy to join them, dropping everything they're doing, for a party in (insert shithole overcamped spot half an hour away here) for 15 minutes of what >would be< 5k/hr, were it not for the 45 minutes of standing around waiting for unweakened/replacements/raises.

In short, I'm only doing this shit preplanned with my friends, and the parties I >have< done with them (nothin' but love, Bel..) have been nothing short of awesome. For pickups? Hell no.

I absolutely love Level Sync. Before it was introduced, I was excited, and this enthusiasm hasn't waned. Now, my situation is different than most of the posters here; I am not in an endgame shell of any kind, but instead belong to a casual shell that usually tries catering to lower level players. Considering, I'm able to build Level Sync PTs at all sorts of levels, enabling me to help others and myself.

I'm in a merit PT next to never, and even when I am, it never exceeds chain #60 or so. However, I can count the amount of times I've been in a PT like that on one hand. I'm basically a hermit, so other high level players don't know me or invite me to PTs like that. I never seek either, which is another part of the reason. In fact, that's usually how I am on the internet in general; I don't like chatting, IMs, MySpace, et cetera; I just like to sit down and do something for an hour or two and then go about my business elsewhere.

So, for me--someone who is next to never in merit PTs--Level Sync is fabulous. 3-7K an hour is totally fine by me.

It just depends on the person and their play style. Some only want the best of the best, some are fine with average performance. You can't blame people for wanting an awesome PT, but you shouldn't believe everyone is like that.

Everybody has different preferences and Level Sync simply provides another possible choice. Choices are good.

    QFT.

But also, I won't sync down more than 2-3 levels on PLD, because I'd at least like the chance to get some shield skillups even if it never actually happens.

Funny thing is though, that unless you get incredibly lucky with a Lesser/Normal Colibri party in the 50s or 60s, a really good W.Altepa or Ronfare[S] party will still get more Exp an hour.

No offense guys, but it seems like yous are getting alot of the bad Sync parties and none of the good ones. :/

Its like the old saying "Gotta kiss a few dragons before getting to the princess". Why not just ignore the dragons and call the the princess on your mobile phone?

That being said, the law of averages dictates that you'll occaisionally get awesome parties in even the worst of camps. I had a 12k/hour party on the lolMarsh Murres in front of Nashmau the other day, normally that camp sucks balls, gave me the heeby-jeebies!

Yeah I'll agree though..the only people I have seen decline are:

Higher level WARs: Main excuse - "Nah my Axe/Axe will be worthless so no."
Higher level MNKs: Main excuse - "xp/hr too low."
Higher level NINs: Main excuse - "xp/hr too low."
Higher level SAMs: Main excuse - "xp/hr too low."
Higher level PLDs: Main excuse - "shield skill won't cap."
Higher level WHMs: Main excuse - "xp/hr too low and it requires too much healing/status removal."
Higher level SMNs: Main excuse - "My avatars will be worthless and I won't have my yingyang robe."

Otherwise, most seem willing to sync at a certain range.
Don't forget when people love to invite THFs to gc at 30/32, pre-viper bite. So fucking stupid. I mean, with merits I still had it (thankfully), but 40-45~ was hell because it was always fucking GC beetles. I'm not looking forward to 57+ when I get dancing edge (merits gooooo!) but then I can't use it. :\

weapon skill and magic skill merits still carry over when level synced, right?

Honestly, I haven't found much of a difference in pick-up parties since the Level Sync was introduced. It's still an agonizing crawl of 300 exp every five minutes while some MNK engages and goes afk before some dude who isn't supposed to pull decides it would be really keen to provoke that mob that just popped how convenient! Either that or, once in every thirty six parties, something strange happens and we mill through mobs as some unstoppable six-man system of pure devastation. But to answer your concern I must ask a question: Was the level 15 Ninja who refused you subbing Dancer?

Yeah, merits do so long as you're at an applicable level. (1 merit at 10, 2 at 220, etc.)

Yes, they get pro-rated based on the level you synch to.
