Seriously? that camp is a fucking godsend. I'm not as fortunate to deal with Colibri camps being open whenever I xp and that camp is always open. They're a lot easier to tank as a Nin (I don't even bother inviting Ninja's to Colbiri's) are just as squishy, Nashmau is a few steps away, and you actually get to keep your damn food. Toss in an imp for chain 5 for shits and giggles. I only get up to chain 5-6, I can imagine you can get a lot higher with a Brd pulling.

I dinged into 31 on my Sam without using Meditate/Zerk once. Though it was technically my fault as I didn't realize the level syncee had dinged 30 (I thought we were still capped at 29)

my bst is 68, won't go under 63 for fran/kc since no multihit under 63. lvl 64 is really the sweet spot tho with madrigal and sushi i never miss at 64, 63 i still miss a lot on colibri/crawlers

The problem I often have with level sync is the morons that don't know good camp levels. To the OP, level 13 is NOT a good dunes level, it sucks. level 15 should have been your target sync, you could have gotten that nin and a couple 14-16's DD's and had a blast on crabs, but synching to 13 is dumb, because crabs are pretty hard at that level. Knowing what levels work for good camps helps level synching out a LOT.

The other issue I have with synching has to do with meripos. If i want to get merits, i'm going to flag up on my war, and i don't care how good your level sync party is, 95% of the time it won't be as good as a meripo that i can get, so there's no way i'm going to level synch. On top of that, as has been said, I lose a ton of gear options when synching below 75 (haste, stats, etc).

And to be honest, i'd prefer a 10k/hr meripo to a 12k/hr synched part just because i'm comfortable with the camps, my macros all work (no kings justice in synched pt), and the others i'm in a party with are (generally) comfortable and competent at their jobs as well.

sync = short version of synchronize, hey look there's an H! Any time you use a word like this and add endings to it like ing and such, you must add that H or you end up with a rather strange word.

Would you say that it leaves you with a syncing feeling?

With the H it sounds like "sinch-ing" which is just retarded. I stand by my "no H" assessment.

without the H it sounds like "synceing" as we all know a C followed by I or E makes it an S sound.

It's the same reason I harp on people for typing "procing" instead of "proccing" or "procking" (word proc is short for processed etc).

I'm pretty sure (correct me if I'm wrong) that the game itself refers to it as "Level Sync." In that case it's giving a specific/proper name to the action, without the "h." It's not termed "Level Synchronization" even though we know that's where the term came from. They've already shortened it, and they left out the "h" themselves. If you're referring to "Level Sync," I'd say it was proper to say "Syncing"/"syncing" (and almost definitely improper to add the "h" in that case) and if you're referring to the word "synchronization," it's proper to say "synching" if you feel like it (although it's technically correct no matter which way you shorten it with -ing). I don't know if that made any sense to anyone but me. Either way, it's just grammar Nazi stuff.

But more on topic. Level sync is a blessing, seriously. I don't really *PREFER* to sync if I'm leveling a new main for reasons already mentioned, and pickup syncs can be a bit sketchy, but with the right people, it's amazing. My LS last night did a sync to level 10 in dunes for a LS member who had recently lost their character and restarted. It took about 2.5-3 hours to get him level 20 (I personally went from 23-29, someone else from 26-32, etc.), literally doing a nomad across the entire zone from lizards near Konschtat to Secret Beach. We did have a PL, but even so I don't really see that as something that a typical pick-up party would attempt to organize. Being able to do something with specific people is really nice.

Yes, it can make for some excellent LS or friend-based PTs. This is exactly how I feel about it, too, and we've had similar experiences. I love it. Hell, I once wanted to re-cap my NIN at 40, but I wound up playing around with LS members until 44. Well, at least it'll never delevel to 39 again...

It doesn't surprise me that people occasionally get invited to crappy Level Sync PTs. There are always going to be terrible random players out there, that's a given. At the same time, one of those invites may be to a LS-organized Level Sync PT that's raking in the EXP smoothly. You never know.

However, I understand that some people would rather wait for a perfect PT to come along. Additionally, the concerns about gear being terribly nerfed make sense, too. If I can, though, I'll just ask people over my LS if they want to PT, we'll set something up, and we'll go for it.

Man, I just had very bad level synched Pts this week on SAM. Seriously, people are doing PTs with levels ranging from 35 to 70, synched down to 35, and expect them to be good? wow. I'm not gonna accept lev synched pts with more than 10 level range, and I put a minimum level in search comment, corresponding to my last major gear upgrades. And I understand jobs like rdm that request 41+ too.

The thing is, it's harder to pull off a good sync party than an avg merit party. And in the vast majority of cases, an avg merit party is going to beat out a good sync party in terms of xp/hour. Based on this and coupled with all the above reasoning (stats, macors, gear conerns, etc), I'd rather just do a merit party unless I'm going to sync with people I know, or when I get asked to sync I get a little more information than {Party}?

Don't make the mistake of basing your lvl 35 dmg compared to your dmg at level 70. compare it to the other lvl 35's in the pt and you'll find out, you do decent dmg.

One of the other things that used to suck with pick up parties was the level gap. You absolutely needed the tank, but he ends up leveling 1.2K into the party, and you're too high for that zone, but the DD are all too low to deal any decent dmg to the next mobs. Even with a mediocre pt with ok xp, it'll last a bit longer. For me, xp is xp. unless I'm losing xp, or wasting a crap ton of gil for what little xp I get, 3~5K/hour w/e. But the thing that used to bug me the worst was a meh pt that only lasted 1K xp and the pt broke. level Sync fixed that.

As for macros, you got 20 books. You could probably fit 2 level ranges on one page. I can still use my 70+ mnk macros at any lvl. Below 41 I just select the WS from the list. Much ado about nothing.

I have to admit one of the nice things about level sync is while most gear is nerfed pretty bad, weapons are actually very generous, and you typically end up doing more damage per hit with a high level weapon in a synched party than with a weapon that belongs to that level range. Perhaps it's just my imagination but that's the way it seems anyways.

Personally for PLD I've been specifying the level+1 of the level that my shield skill is at so no matter what I'll at least get skill ups, seems to have been working pretty decently so far. For example if my skill is just below cap for level 40 so therefore I say in sea comment (Level Sync) 41+ (please) or something to that effect.

I generally comment the lowest level that I'll go to dependant on certain gear(leveling THF at the moment for example, and won't go under 36 so that I still have Deft Rings to use). I still get invites for a level range lower than what I specified, but generally it works well.

And they added Level Sync when I was sitting at 70ish PLD, being able to do 72-75 in Caederva parties instead of Campaign was fantastic.

I experienced my first PL + level sync yesterday. 32 > 35 on Sam in about an hour and a half (synced at 28 to start) Sam/Drg (lvl 75, his damage output was just crap) Blm/Nin/Pld/Dnc. No Cor..no Brd, so we could have done a lot better, but we got chain 6 a few times; this was in Yhoator against Mandies/Gobs. My GKT is about 3 levels behind, but that was probably the most fun I've had leveling a lowbie job in ages.

level sync rules, anything else is pretty non-existent now atleast on my server. Haven't seen a regular pt since. After 54, wajaom/bhaf birds are godsends with sync and would never go below that sync level. Grab drgs and rngs, rdm and brd and go tear shit up for 13k/hr. Did rdm, war, thf from 50-66 with sync in 3 days each respectively.

Tried my first level sync party at Yhoator Jungle. Synced at level 30, members were originally 29-32/33

PLD (later replaced by a PUP)
    SAM
    MNK
    BRD
    WHM
    WAR

Unfortunately, it didn't work out the way I expected. Healer never needed to use her MP thanks to dumbasses subbing /nin, thf, popping jack o lantern(seriously, why the fuck?), crab sushi etc. etc., typical not-so-intelligent people who simply can't understand the concept of maximizing exp/hr. The spell "Cure" wasn't used. I haven't seen a single dumpling.

Anyway, that setup on mandies should've pulled better exp naked so I'll avoid blaming scaled down gear for now. Hopefully it'll get better as people get used to the system.

    Weird glitch I found.

I was pulling on Brd in a dunes party, I had been soloing Brd/Bst and just went to party like that.

I hit the wrong macro and charmed a T crab as I was pulling (best part of pulling in the dunes, you can just spam through T-VT mobs and when people bitch about exp/fight, point out that we just made 6k/hr+ with 0 downtime), it came back to the camp and decharmed basically immediately.

Now, it had no damage dealt too it, and I'm a little hazy if you get exp from 100% life pets, but either way it did a really weird thing.

The Snipper falls to the ground. (after we killed it)
    No experience points gained.
The level sync designee is either too far away or unconscious.

They were right there by us, I tried it again later to confirm it, and it happens with sync.

Not a major glitch, or very obvious one, because who tries to kill uncharmed pets much?

    Still a weird message.
