I'd be really excited for this, except the last two films also had really good trailers and then sucked. Prisoner of Azkaban is the only movie that's been any good. If you haven't read the books and only watch the movies, you fail it.

so excited for this!
It's more than that for the Harry Potter universe.
Dumbledore represents everything Harry has left in a parental figure, and Snape is a constant antagonist, amplified by his ties to Harry's father and Harry's own continued misgivings about him.
It's essentially the person that Harry feels the most negatively about killing the person Harry feels the most positively about.
i think we can all agree, it will be nothing to dobby in the last movie >.>
Outside of Dobby in Deathly Hallows, I can't wait for Mrs Weasley to lay the smackdown on Bellatrix + call her a bitch and for Neville vs Voldemort lol
That's not what I'm talking about.
When you're reading a book, you get attached to the character a lot more easily than you do when you watch it on the screen. Your brain won't bother imagining every details that could make this kind of scenes awkward, and the only thing left is the sad stuff. It's hard for a writter to fuck up this kind of scenes, because the reader do most of the job.
In a movie, there will always be something to distract you, to make it looks cheesy or whatever. As much as people like Dumbledore, I doubt the scene will meet their expectation, even if it's well done.
well normally i would agree, but one scene that was more emotion invoking than the book was goblet of fire when harry port-keyed back from the graveyard and he collapses on the body, they show cho crying and then his father moaning in agony.
much more emotional than the book. very powerful
I agree 100%. Movies have a tendency to be much more involving emotionally. Honestly, I can get super into a book, but I've never shed a tear for one. When a main character dies, I usually say, "WHAT THE FUCK!" But, I got all teary-eyed when Harry tried to save that guy and he died right in front of his dad.
"That's my boy!" :'(
Yeah it really sucked to read that part, the last book I felt was sort of a let down. I really hope the movie doesn't spend a lot of time showing how long they were actually out looking for Horcruxes. The ending fight too.. I thought it would have been so much more epic, but it was just so gay and fast.
PS Would it honestly kill them to not fucking say Harry Potter every fucking 5 seconds of the goddamn movie? We know his name already, good god they have the british accent, just always make it sound so shocking and revealing.
i read 3 4 and 5 the day they came out.. then i stopped reading them, i thought 7 was 6.. a friends girlfriend told me that basically everyone dies . this movie looks like poo![]()
Holy fuck that Cho and Luna look fucking hot.
(I didn't watch the 4th, 5th movies, yet but I wiki-ed up the image).
In the book Luna was described as a retard/coocoo, can't believe it, and as such, you mentally assign an ugly image for her. And this came across as unexpected...
Looking awesome but I still can't believe how long it was delayed, mid 2009 QQ
Am I a bad person? I cheered when Dobby bought it.
I fucking hated dobby. In the movies. That fucking voice was so annoying with that face you just wanted to kick the screen in.
It's ok in the books...
I'm very curious to see how they're going to work in Dobby's storyline in the last movie, considering they chose to ignore it in the movies after the second one. I can understand why they did it, though, since they didn't know at the time that the house elves were going to play important parts in the final book (Dobby in that one chapter, and later Ron pointing out that they need to get the elves to safety leading to him and Hermione getting all smoochy).
I'll be sad if they leave it out of the final book (though I see leaving Dobby out completely will be more difficult than the rest of the house elf storyline), but really - as long as they have Neville standing up to Voldemort, I'll be happy as a clam. That was like the most epic fucking thing ever. Screw Ron - Neville is my king!
they nearly cut the other house elf Kreacher out of the 5th movie if it wasn't for JK telling them he plays an important part in the last movie
One of the reasons that studios are pushing tentpole franchises back into the summer of '09 is that the writer's strike fucked up their movie pipeline and no studios have anything at all ready to go for the summer slots. They're pushing some of their Xmas movies back in order to capitalize on weaker competition. Could be kind of a dry year as far as movies go, but hopefully some lesser-known stuff will pop up and get some good recognition.
