Just a thought, but maybe the current location is too hard for SOME people to find, and it might be easier to locate if it was inside the General forum. It's weird how the mods don't jump on these threads in General about video games like they do Newb threads posted in Advanced.

I still wouldn't use it for the same reason I don't get my video game news from /v/. Besides, "newbie" and "advanced" are mutually exclusive while "video game" and "general" are not.

Which is why I suggested making it a subforum to general, not its own general forum.

it used to be a sub forum in general... Was just one topic. And while it doesn't draw as much attention, it having is own forum section allows much more topic freedom imo.
It will never draw as much attention as advanced & general - they are the two biggest forums in BG
