I see a lot of greens on healers, tanks and dps in 10-man pugs. That probably explains the 'oh shit we actually need to use strategy past Patchwerk quick get another healer' problems. Can't overcome a problem of math by simply throwing more bodies at a boss.
my 10man has a prot pally offtank so he just tosses on heal gear for sapph since it's obviously a single tank fight. does the same for some others like loatheb, etc.
Yeah, I get to convince all my OTs to do this since paladin tanks are now viable and I'm pretty much the best tank on my server. (That's not being arrogant really...I'm on a terrible terrible server). I prefer druids for my OT so they can DPS or heal which makes them awesome for this role even more than druids already are.
Its really fun when you have enough raid healing, but people cant manage to stay out of the fucking fire on Heigan. Seriously? WTF? You did Noth just fine, which is a much more complicated fight, and you cant fucking run back and forth?
Yeah its pretty fun to jump off cliffs with the bike.. only thing I don't like besides the CC/snare/slow effects/fall damage immunity I don't like is that you have to forcibly dismount to do stuff, you can't just... start jamming your "attack" stuff or healing etc to exit.
Oh and... recently got my Rogue to lv80 now to yay herbalism... and fishing.... all the time for my hunter ;/
He said "now viable" which I read as being "now viable"... as in: "until recently only" and "werent viable".
lol. To me, they(we) have been viable since at least some point in BC, and from that point onward through now. Which is quite a while, and can be used in most BC boss fights. I said fuck to brutallus, so that's 4 fights non-viable in sw, and maybe 1-2 in bt? 2-5 in t5?
Did over 100 quests in Storm Peaks a stack of dailies and made over 1.2k Gold total.
Still have at least 2 hubs and dungeon quests to do there too.
Not even touched Sholazar Basin and still one hub left in Dragonblight.
That's only the ones I know about too..
Think I might go chill on my lv10 Frost Mage for a few days and take a break from Northrend.
Also picked up every FFXI Paladins wet dream, DRing get!
No mage teir at all. Top DPS at 2200, hit 3k at one point in the fight, got pwned by some bad RNG at the end with leaps/movment.
2200? lol

6000
Was gonna say, my rogue does 2200 in greens/blues in heroic 5mans and 10man arch.
As far as paladin goes, didn't know the gap was gone. My MT who is a friend of mine is the only tank I've played with, and the only gap I've seen gone is the need for pallies for AOE since everyone can do it. I've looked at the tree, but didn't realize all were equal, cause I haven't had the pleasure of using a pally yet.
I never had to deal with "competition" for MT slot, we had 4 tanks in my sunwell guild, 2warriors, pally(me) and a feral... and before a fight it was "Ok, who wants to tank" typically. Except for Illy, our 2nd warrior liked to get beamed, and on multi tank fights I typically went first due to higher threat. So I guess I'm biased as far as competitive tanking, since I haven't had to deal with it.
With ret changed I've missed my paladin though since I had a cat's edge and most ret t6 and BT dps gear... my friend who plays ret in heroics with me has a blast and outdps's my rogue right now, and he has the shittiest gear ever, think his best piece pre-wotlk was season2 lol. Seems like paladin got alot more fun in both specs, kinda regret selling mine so long before 3.0. Did they make tanking more fun? I only know ret looks more fun, and I mainly sold him cause tanking got so boring after spending so many weeks on kalecgos after SW was released. If you say yes I'll be more disappointed, but I do want to know lol.
Edit:: he mainly outdps's me for overall data since concecrate ends up being 30% of his damage pretty much, and me being mute have no aoe. For bosses without adds, I win. I am kinda disappointed how many bosses have adds though since I hate mute for those fights. So annoying to have no energy and then have an add pop, and have to wait till 60energy before I can even do a yellow attack.
Tanking is a whole lot more fun. We gained 2 abilities on a 6s cooldown and so now we do something every gcd (unless trying to conserve mana) and with the blessing of sanc change we don't run out of mana unless we're soloing basically.
For the "gap". Warriors have their 10% defensive stance, paladins now have 6% from imp RF and then another 3% from a higher end talent. As well, warriors shield block is now a mini-shield wall every 40s (+100% chance to block and block value for 10s) and paladins didn't have any such thing change and can still be the old "uncrushable" and every attack will at least be a block, thus making them more consistent damage to heal, much like a druid in BC against a boss that couldn't crush.
For accomplishments (since this is the accomplishment thread lol) I cleared 3 wings of Naxx last night in my first full guild run, only one wipe overall and it was on Heigan, so I'm pretty happy with my guild so far. We'll see how things go whenever we have the healers to do 25 mans.
Got tired of heroic groups standing around Dalaran failing to find healers, so spec'd to tree...promptly got 5 heroics and ~25 emblems![]()
