Hey, remember that time I made the joke about the mage that won the T10.25 legs?

Crit, Haste, and Spell Power have around the same relative value for Fire. Kind of like the difference between SP/Haste and SP/crit gems in your yellow sockets is less then .02 DPS difference. I choose SP/Haste so that if I need to I can switch to arcane (plus PvP aspect), while some people choose SP/Crit because it makes Fireball less moody on Hot Streaks.
Got the first one to ever drop off this thing after so many weeks!

So I left my other guild due to me not liking how it went about. Then I join a new guild and 2 days later get a DBW. Kinda happy D:
Did ICC10 tonight, haven't been able to find a group on my terrible low pop server in 3 weeks now. 11/12, good attempts on LK. Then after completeing the weekly ICC quest I snatched up my T10 head and now get to sport my Heroic Gunship Mittens without worry. Also got exalted ring and deathfrost boots inc so this has been an amazing day.
Also picked up a few items like Abracadaver and the wand from BQ but I'm not sure if I'll be able to work them into my gear with hit caps.
Love wednesdays, its like pay day in WoW. Fresh ICC was dropping a lot of vanquisher tokens and there being no druids, 1 mage (me), 1 dk and 3 rogues of which 2 are 4/4 sanc and 1 is new, I had roughly 50% chance getting a token unless the dk outbid me (he has a LOT of points though). First 2 tokens I lost vs him but the third one I got so now I'm 3/4 sanctified bloodmage gear. We only did 2 token bosses since they called the raid earlier then usual and will continue tomorrow when I can't be there.
Unfortunately the Plague wing still doesn't put out for me. About 75% of my upgrades come from there (trinket+wand from rotface, feet from festergut, main hand from putricide) and I'm pretty sure I'll get some heavy competition on most of those items.
First raid with new guild and i get Heroic zods, heroic bloodfall and a token!
He's probably a vanilla player. I miss the old days myself. Though as someone posted a while ago (Gulk I think?) You really don't need most of those programs to determine what is better, at least for most classes.
I have to admit I find it pretty funny that Blizzard is doing some type of loop in terms of gear and it's complexity
Vanilla: Simple
TBC: Complex
WotLK: Even More Complex
Cata: Simple again
Goddamn, everyone gearing up like soldiers. I've hit a brick wall with gear - I need to start being more greedy - letting everyone else roll on things because they aren't huge upgrades.
Sure they look into optimizing performance, but it was so simple and there was only 1 spec of each class that mattered. You didn't have to have a shadow priest, boomkin, ele/enhance shaman, etc. Infact it was frowned upon if you didn't have the 'correct' spec for raiding. Hybrids were not hybrids and they were pigeonholed into one spec. You absolutely could not 'theorycraft' efficiently to get optimal gear because.. well, there weren't so many fucking sets or offpieces to choose from. It was extremely simple minded when it came to items.
Are you seriously advertising all that as a good thing?
Entire talent trees that effectively served no purpose at all, people coming into a class (particularly a hybrid) with the expectation that they can go a few different ways with it only to be told "your class should have been labeled Priest 2, you only get to heal." Moreover, they weren't necessarily told this by raid leaders or the community, this was effectively the end result of Blizzard's own (poor) design! It was clearly obvious that some trees were just broken and didn't work, but they weren't fixed because their 'cardinal' tree worked just fine. I wouldn't have nearly the same objections to this if you just had one design/purpose per class, period, as some games do; but WoW wasn't pitched or "theoretically" written that way, despite it ending up more or less like that early on, and at this point they couldn't really afford to take that turn with it. They've done a pretty good job diversifying anyway, though I think they put way too much effort into making all dps trees 'viable' for all situations.
Stacking classes? I like playing warrior more than rogue, but oh man we're full on warriors and need more rogues. Not just want, need. The actual fight mechanics demand it. That's not broken to you? It's a pretty big kick in the pants from where I sit. Not to mention "Oh we're short a mage, guess we don't raid." FFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-
tl;dr- Let's try not to get too deep in the rose colored glasses mode, the 'simplicity' of vanilla was nice in some ways but there was a lot more potential there and they've overall done a pretty good job tapping it over the course of time even if they've gone a little overboard in some areas and even perhaps leaned too far the other way of just 'appeasing the masses'.
5k from an ICC GDK. Crazy bidding war on Fester/Rotface blood going for 4-5k <.<
I don't know where in my response you read it as a positive note, but I was simply stating that the fact that theorycrafting and numbercrunching didn't exist as much in vanilla and worrying about loot, and what pieces of loot you want DID NOT matter. This right here is the main reason I loved vanilla, because loot. did not. matter. The progression was completely #1 and it was a lot less of a grind.
