    How's my feral, Slott?

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte.../meakow/simple

Granted, this is my alt toon so it's a work in progress (I'm missing a few enchants and I have some reforging for hit). I noticed your hit is way under....how do you compensate? Hit food/elixirs?

I know you asked specifically for Slott, but I'm sure he'll expand on this and I can give you a few quick answers:

Hit is currently one of the lowest weighted stats for Feral DPS. We don't even need it to interrupt, if Skull Bash misses the interrupt effect still registers, the mana cost increase is what "missed"

Your gems are off quite a bit, generally socket full agility unless the socket bonus is +20 or more AGI. It's likely you put your meta in before they released the new AGI/Crit damage meta, but even the AGI/Crit damage WotLK meta is better than the one you're using. I'm not sure about other servers, but the new AGI meta is down below 200g on Arthas.

Also, you should probably look at altering your talents in order to pick up Survival Instincts.

It's a pretty common theme these days that every class prioritizes their main stat, i.e. casters always prioritize int gems/trinks, str melee always prioritize str, agi always agi, even more so than ever before due to reforging.

Basically every base stat is at a 2 to 1 or higher ratio, so unless you're getting twice as much (or more), you're always going to go for the base stat, even over hit and expertise.

It was a tiny bit less so before, hit and expertise carried more weight (no comment on armor pen) and there were less enchants, and you obviously couldn't reforge to them. Now, you can go full out primary stat everywhere it's available, and use reforging to fill in the hit.

Basically it comes down to this:

Most dps used to have this stat strength:

hit to cap > expertise to soft cap > primary stat > crit/haste/whatever/exp to hard cap

    now, for most classes it's:

primary stat > hit to cap > expertise to soft cap > etc.

But, for feral I think it's agi > crit > mastery > hit to cap > expertise to soft cap > haste

I'm not a feral though, so don't take that as gospel, I'm just explaining the general basis for how we're putting things together.

Thanks for the input. I've always gone with the mentality of getting to hit first then fill in the rest (it probably works best with casters???). My main is an ele/resto shaman so maybe I'm doing elemental wrong too as I've made it a point to be hit capped first then worry with the INT stacking. Also, in regards to feral, why not worry with hit? What is best rotation? I've been working with something like this:

Berserk > rake/mangle to 5 points > rip > TF > shred > rip/mangle to 5 > SR > keep bleeds up with the occasional FB (which I'm sure isn't worth the points or energy)

Without even looking up the information I can say with 99% confidence that on your ele shaman, any place you have a choice between INT and anything else (gems, enchants, trinkets), you should always choose the INT, and then use reforging to get any extra hit you need.

The reason it's so good is that you get spellpower, crit, maximum mana, and mana regen improvements all via INT, and the spellpower and crit are at very good rates.

The same holds true for agi users since they get crit as well, but even str users are designed via things like percentage boosts so that str is the best stat by far.

As to your feral questions I'm not sure, but do you know about elitistjerks?

Hm, I'm trying to put the feral priority system into words and I find myself at a loss.

    Keep Faerie Fire/Mangle/Rake up
Tiger's Fury on cooldown (you should always need the energy)
    Shred for combo points
    5-point Rip
    Shred for more combo points
    Savage Roar
Shred, don't FB just let your combo points sit for refreshing Rip/Roar

25% you hit Blood in the Water, you can refresh Rip with Ferocious Bite
    Still keep up your debuffs/Roar
If Rip is going to fall and you don't have 5 CP, Ferocious Bite anyway to refresh it

    Edit:
Open fights with Feral Charge after FF, Stampede allows you to use Ravage for free. However, I wouldn't ravage right away - it hits for a ton and it's likely you'll pull the boss if you use it straight off, instead start with Mangle/Rake to give your tank some time. Some bosses have weird hitboxes that will allow you to Feral Charge even when in melee range, which is awesome and is basically free damage + combo points on the target.

Some people swear by running out to feral charge back in whenever charge is off cooldown but it feels wonky to me and I generally don't do it.

It's likely I missed something, but for whatever reason I'm finding this hard to explain.

I find EJ's Feral DPS thread to be pretty lacking compared to their other class/spec threads.

And, actually, looking at elitist jerks I was wrong about ele shaman lol. Here's the breakdown:

    Spirit/Hit (until capped) >> Intellect > Haste = Mastery >> Crit

Important note for 4.0.6: the changes to overloads with this patch have brought up mastery to a point where it is equal to haste, and so generally speaking you do not want to stack one over the other. Keep that in mind when reforging or choosing upgrades.

    ...

    How should I gem?
As many Intellect gems as possible while getting good (+int) socket bonuses using int/haste orange gems or int/spirit purple gems. Your meta, like all ranged casters, is [Burning Shadowspirit Diamond].

Keep in mind that since you cannot reforge additional primary stats like Int, it is best to reforge to the hit cap rather than gemming for it, and squeeze as much Int as you can out of gemming (through gems themselves and/or socket bonuses).

    ...

What stats do I reforge on my gear?
Follow these simple Rules for Reforging™!

If you're hit capped, and/or you have excess hit or spirit, do the following:
    1. If an item has hit/spirit and crit, reforge hit/spirit to Haste or Mastery if you have excess hit rating, otherwise reforge crit to Haste or Mastery
    2. If an item has hit/spirit and haste, reforge hit/spirit to Mastery if you have excess hit rating, otherwise leave it alone
    3. If an item has hit/spirit and mastery, reforge hit/spirit to Haste if you have excess hit rating, otherwise leave it alone
    4. If an item has crit and haste, reforge crit to Mastery
    5. If an item has crit and mastery, reforge crit to Haste
    6. If an item has haste and mastery, leave it alone!

If you're not hit capped from your gear, reforging crit to spirit can get you the rest of the way, as well as make it easier to exactly reach the cap with no wasted rating. Remember, however, to take gems and socket bonuses into account when reforging to the cap.

In other words, reforge crit to either haste or mastery whenever possible, depending on the other secondary stat on the item. If you have a choice between haste and mastery on an item, try to keep around the same amount of both stats.

You can find similar information and rotation etc. there about your druid as well, or any class.

Yea, I've read EJ but not too much on feral really. As I stated before, my druid is my alt really and mostly my herbalism farmer (so that I can spam mysterious cards because I'm addicted). I've mostly been a healer in most raids so I just concern myself with that but I've been slowly gearing my feral druid and I'm working on my warrior too. With that being said, all of this is very good information for me to take in coupled with EJ but I just haven't been on EJ much lately. Sometimes, for me, the EJ forums are a bit convoluted.

INT is a better stat than any secondary stat. So all gems should be INT (typically unless the socket bonus is at least 20int or 30of secondary stat), and all enchants/reforging should be hit to cap > other secondary stats. Int to bracers obviously wins though.

UNLESS you are interrupting for you raid, in which case, you need to be hit capped.

That's basically what all casters are doing.

I edited my above post a ton of times without refreshing the page like an idiot. Anyway, the feral dps thread on EJ is kind of an upset. The main post is not only lacking information, it's pretty out dated.

What he said. The guy who started the 4.0 thread retired. Guy who took it over either retired, or just doesn't update. Useful bits of info are just strung through the thread, though most have changed as our priorities change with every patch.

    So I made some changes:

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/characte.../meakow/simple

Per the dummies in Org, it helped tremendously. Bumped up my DPS on the dummies by about 2.5k. I was well over 12k after about 5 or so minutes of testing. Thanks for the info.

EDIT: Shred was landing hard as a mofo a few times.

Sorry, was a busy weekend and hadn't checked this thread.
To Positive - skull bash checks hit rating, when it first was released it didn't. This was hotfixed a month or so ago.

DPS ratings: Agility is king. While someone claimed always use 40 agility except for bonuses of +20...they were close. It's +40 agility unless you get +14 or more agility per socket wasted. For example: a red/blue combo with +20 agility socket bonus, using a 40 agi gem and 20 agi 20 hit would be worth it. If it was yellow/blue and you used 20 agi 20 mastery + 20 agi 20 hit, this would not be worth it.

You should focus on Agility -> mastery -> crit -> haste -> hit/expertise at your gear level. Hit rates higher than expertise if you need to interrupt. Expertise rates higher than hit if you ever hit from the front. They're both equal if hitting from behind with no interrupt.

Since you're only at the 346 ilvl, you should stick to stacking crit a bit higher over haste. Haste starts to win out at higher gear levels since it's a normalized cp/energy gain, versus the random factor of CP generation from crit.
There's a good thread by tangedyn (previously from yawning) on the druid forums on the wow website. It holds a lot of useful information, and you can use a program like mew to sim your stats, and see what needs work.

Gear suggestions I see? Change the gem on your helm - the 21 agi wrath meta is better than the crit one. You're using a green gem which is awful at this point - use either purple (20 agi/hit) or orange (20 agi/mastery) to fulfil that socket bonus for 30 agi.
Your chest should have 2 40 agi gems in it. You used the strength helm enchant over agi... Use the wrath agi cloak enchant. The only thing that comes close is the 65 crit cloak enchant, but 22 agi >>>>>> 50 crit. rest seems ok.

I don't have the rep for the agi helm enchant so I went with the next best option. Also, waiting on my lazy wife to get some wrath mats for the +22 agi to cloak. Thanks for the input though.

Downed HM Halfus last night, shit was easier then we expected. Maybe because they had me tank halfus (bear), because bear just seems OP for that fight. I'd dodge so much at times that the debuff stacks would reset lol. Only took us about 50 minutes to kill him for our first try

Seriously don't know why we did Cho'gall first. -_- Nef was such a joke in comparison to Cho. Oh well, we totally screwed our boss kill order up this tier of raids lol.

    WOOHOOO mace from Magmaw got.

Best DK tanking weapon by miles next to the heroic version, which I will probably not get for sometime.

Good bye FOE REAPER FUGLY piece of crap!

I'm happy for it to drop as the guild's first 2 magmaw netted a mace, both which I was not present, so both went to a Fury Warrior. Then it didn't drop for 2 odd weeks...
