Which part should I clarify?
I'm complaining that the current format for legendary weapon create unfair situation where the guild will have to favor a particular player over other. It's rarely a good situation to be in, because it's bound to make people jealous (and cause some crying when that person get bored of WoW before other). A better way to approach legendary weapon would be to reward everyone in the group with the shard, instead of farming a single relic at any time. That was my solution.
Aurik said it's not an issue because you can easily share the shard between people. However, I disagree it's an appropriate solution to the problem because
1) There is not a single advantage doing this
2) By the time the group is done with their weapons, they will be worthless
3) Your guild won't have access to the weapon after 2.5months to help farming.
Yes, the result might be the same after 7.5 months if you were working on 3 legendary, but it's still a suboptimal situation that most people don't want to be in. You shouldn't have to choose between making thing fair and being efficient, the model should include both at the same time.
I would agree with this actually, I didn't mind the rare drop chance, but rare drop = RNG and you have some guilds with 10 and others with 0 so yeah, I take back that statement. Though I think the shard system still needs a tweak, let everyone loot a shard from the boss but lower the drop rates on the shard a little so it takes more time but more people are seeing the fruits of their labor. It's always an issue when the guild has to figure out who gets the 1st, 2nd, 3rd legendaries during a tier.
When your weaponholder decides to quit / class change / realm change / gquit you aren't completely fucked?
No drama in picking a "favoured son" to sponsor first?
Nothing I've said is incorrect. Yes, you can pool effort to get it faster which gives you killing advantage. Guess what, you can also have your entire raid maintain and raid on 85 alts so that you can raid stack no matter what classes are best for new fights / new patches, that would give you a killing advantage. Lots of behaviors are subtly encouraged by blizzard, some intentionally and some unintentionally.
Just think of the weapon as a 7.5 month weapon that blizzard has allowed you to pool effort.
So, the solution to make sure no one run away with a weapon is to make sure nobody get a weapon...clever.When your weaponholder decides to quit / class change / realm change / gquit you aren't completely fucked?
Again, there is nothing wrong with the solution I proposed? You get the best out of both world, unlike right now where you can't be efficient and fair.
It's as correct as poorly done statistics in politics.Nothing I've said is incorrect
Cry more.
Every thread is pissing match thread.
If you make the shards a "quest item" (in the sense that anyone eligible can collect it simultaneously from the corpse) then it's cutting the legs out of the semi unique aspect of a legendary weapon. You do understand that the concept of them is that you're reassembling a unique item that was either shattered into lots of tiny bits or has to be forged from tiny bits that the bosses carry, right? That's not something you can conceivably just hand out to 2-25 people simultaneously.
Legendaries are meant to be rare. There's no bones about that and if your guild can't amicably agree on someone to focus on who is best served by having one and you instead feel compelled to hold hands and share with everybody, then your progress is going to be slower. It's as simple as that, and your solution is undermining the basic principle of what Blizzard strives for with legendary weapons.
Hey guys lets introduce a best-in-slot weapon and give it to everyone who can use one in 3 months time.
Just realized I'm the best caster dps in my raid group.

Legendary system is gonna work perfectly fine, it's up to the guild how they handle distributing it.
ITT: Casuals who think their guild is deserving of multiple legendaries in no effort
Better off assuming you won't get one imo. It's like trying to get the dynamis weapons in FFXI ages back. Fuck that shit.
Also, hit 5k achieves cause I'm a cheevo whore like that.
If they made them like Dynamis Weapons too many casuals would start crying/cutting themselves and it would just instantly get reverted back to the old system they had in place before it.
WoW bitches can't handle FFXI.
I think also having as a random drop that makes you complete a quest-line is a much better direction than just having it drop randomly like Illidan or Kil'Jaeden. It shouldn't be crafted either like Sulfuras.
IMO I liked Thunderfury cause it finished with a really epic boss battle in which you actually obtained the bosses weapon for real.
Thunderfury was not without problems. Needing to farm BWL trash for the required materials was kind of dumb. Doing stuff like MC'ing an NPC for the smelting recipe and killing Thunderaan at the end were definitely done right, though.
Teehee.
Should be in range for hero of the horde in ~2 weeks.
Nice, wish I could get people to actually do RBG on my server >_<
