Didnt notice that.
But that fucker went the distance and got my gmail account too.
Which is weird because the passwords are nowhere near the same.

Make sure they didn't link your e-mail to their own e-mail when they hacked it, or they will get you again. They can easily reset your password and steal everything again if you leave them the door open.
When I lost my account a few months ago, I grabbed an authentifactor, formated my pc, changed every password, but they ended up calling Blizzard, had my authentificator removed and got my account back since they had my secret question. If you had a lot of gold on your character, don't expect them to give up easily, because they will do everything to steal it again.
In my case, they called Blizzard a total of 9 times over 1 weeks (and it worked once). That's how persistant they are.
First thing I checked. [email protected] will not steal my shit.
Also I made a new email account just for WoW.
I only have like 70k. Try again silly chinaman.
I still don't understand why there are still people not using a token/phone authenticator.
You can not disable an authenticator without the authenticator in hand or a notarized fax.
Some of us have still never had a problem despite not having one...from my experience, it's generally the fault of the person getting hacked having poor judgement in what websites they go to (without something like noscript) that causes issues.
Admittedly, my main deterrent to getting an authenticator is gone at this point (since you don't have to enter it from the same PC), but haven't gotten around to it and don't see the urgency.
And apparently someone with one can still have issues. :/
You can if you have the secret question, or if you get a lazy employee who doesn't do the proper check.
Authentificator is a pain in the ass. It's not something I want to input everytime I log on Starcraft on different PC (since i dont like carrying it around). It's also stupid to pay 15$ for something we shouldnt need if Blizzard made more serious IP check or something.
Phone authenticator is free.
Yea phone one is free, and the one in blizzard store is only $6.50 with free shipping.
God forbid you have to enter 8 digits every time you log onto a system that has all your information stored on it
If you have one.
If you add shipping and taxes, I paid mine 13$ or something.
Money isn't the issue, but if they had a system like Rift, hacking would be less common already.
It's 6 digits long and once a week for WoW. Not a huge problem, but it's still annoying when you want to play somewhere else.
For Starcraft (which i play a lot more than WoW), it's kind of annoying. It serves absolutely no purpose since account will never be stolen.
the phone one is 8 digits, and there are alternatives if you have some primitive 1990's cellphone and don't want to spend 6.50
Wait everyone doesnt have a smartphone?
Even my grandfather has an iphone 3G.
That's the kicker. The % of "normal" people with noscript is infinitesimal. 12m+ subscribers to SC2 and WoW and more coming with D3, and you think more than a good 5% of those people are even remotely computer savvy? Come on... even those of us who set up this for our friends, family, work environment know that the vast majority of people are more likely to turn it off, or in the case of noscript, permanently allow websites that should never have been visited in the first place.
Having an authenticator was only ever really an issue when there weren't smartphones. If you do not have your phone with you, you have another issue all together.
Rift's system is really intriguing. It involves email and "coinlock" prevention. It has its downsides though, as was proven in the early days of Rift's launch when their security was circumvented. The problem with coinlock is that it allows the hacker into your account at all. Its like letting the burglar into your house and then locking them in the closet until the cops can be called. I personally wouldn't mind seeing this added to Battle.net but if you can't get in in the first place...
*Complains he doesn't have a phone*
*Spends 13.95 a month on a game*
Priorities.
Sure, I think most people should have one, but I don't think there's anything wrong with not having one if you are careful/etc. Just seems like effort for no real gain (and if for some reason I did get fucked...it takes all of 1-2 days for Blizzard to fix it? But I still don't see that happening anyway).
I don't care how careful you think you are, and how protected you think noscript makes you, or how savvy you think you are with computers.
You'll get hacked, and you'll be mad you didn't have that authenticator so they couldn't log into any of your characters.
It's not just the people browsing unsafe sites with noscript that aren't savvy that get hacked fyi. Lots of smart, protected, computer literate people with computer based careers get hacked.

Why would anyone be mad? Getting hacked is not a big deal, especially if you were willing to take that risk in the first place. Personally, my adventure ended with 200k more gold, and an interesting story about hacker calling Blizzard to steal my account (and succeeding). It wasnt really bad.
