On Heroic, you tank the boss on the claw & the Rogue stays on boss 100% of the time while using Blade Flurry on the claw
That's how his damage remains so high, he's cleaving pretty much the entire fight
In other news:
Spoiler: show
There's an Arms warrior doing 100k on logs to that fight.
Edit: decided to blow 50k before server transfering on Epic gems which should net me 100k gold on my new server :D there were 2 bulks of 25 queen's garnet on the AH which were 25k each, and I bought 2 and my new server i plan on moving are 2k+
Did heroic Alysrazor for shits and giggles, group died cept our shadow priest, priest took Aly from 15% to dead, flash healing during firestorms and never going to the ground. Ground was covered in birds and worms lol.
Quest Objectives: "Learn what it means to be Horde"
STAND BY ME IZZYPOOKINS
ding 85 and hit 372 ilvl in one night. gogo BoEs.
Worked on a blood set this weekend since I had a few raid finder tokens to turn in. I'm up to 380 ilvl with 3500 mastery and ~39% avoidance. Been playing close to 4 years and up until this past weekend never tanked anything. Really enjoying it!
My likes -
I get to use 4g 40 mastery gems
I get the satchel for queuing as tank which helps my gold income
I control the speed of dungeon runs
Blood spec is funner to me than the other specs
Can solo like a boss
Increased demand over dps for everything
Gearing is easy
Dislikes -
When dps ganks my loot
(That's truly the only bad thing I've experienced (yet))
Since it's Tuesday I'm gonna try tanking LFR tonight, and maybe get into a normal this week with my new guild. Will be my first ever raid as a tank job. /crossesfingers

^ is me. How am I doin, and what would you buy with valor first if this was your toon? Thanks.
Hey Hey your char is similar to mine in stats!
I currently roll with 3600~ (forgot the value but I know I generate 197% shields) mastery and about 34% avoidance, I think. I'll need to check. Your HP matches mine though from a weeks ago but although recently I've been told to get more Stamina because it doesn't matter as much this patch around in comparison to the last where bosses in heroic mode were hitting like trucks.
For you I'd recommend:
Trinket > Neck > Ring
May want to redo your talents Rufus, I've personally found Crimson scourge a waste of 2 points. Def get Improved blood tap 2/2. Far more useful to blood dks than the other stuff you chose in your spec.
I personally like Crimson Scourge! hehe
Anyways, yeh redo the talents:
Put 2/3 in Bladed Armor. That extra 1 point won't count for shit due to Vegenance
2/2 in Improved Blood Tap
Take out Blood Caked Blade completely. It's an utterly useless talent
Glyph of Rune Tap: your healers will love you, kind of. Well, I get complimented on using it sometimes: "wow, thanks for healing the others!" lol
In minor glyph: some Blood Tap glyph, basically prevents you from getting hurt each time you Blood Tap
If soloing old content often:
2/2 in Abomination's might is actually good, and you can use a drums of forgotten kings to cover the other buff (4%), otherwise, the 2% strength you get from it is negligible
Thanks for the help guys.
I re-did my talents last night after reading EJ's tanking thread. Haven't had a chance to check in on BG til' a few minutes ago.
The first spec was my solo build and figured I'd need to respec.
After reading the do's and don'ts on EJ, I messed around with lots of glyphs and found some I like.
I'm trying the following to see how I like em:
(Long-winded, sorry.)
Spoiler: show
I miss the run speed of unholy pres. so I tried using bone shield glyph and ended up chanting boots for run speed :/
Been using Blood Tap on every cd, so will talent and glyph into it. Never really used it before last night. But an almost on-demand DS is p. cool.
Probably going to respec again tonight because yeah, Blood-Caked Blade sucks balls. Gonna try this, (Clicky)
As for my accomplishment, I tanked Morchok and Zon'ozz this morning before work in LFR. First "Raid" boss encounters I've "tanked"; gonna play around in there a few times to get the gist of the bosses and what I need to watch for as tank then try to get in my guild's 10man DS team as OT.
Thanks again guys. I appreciate the advice.
H Zon'ozz down. 4/8 H10 DS now. Next is Hagara, will probably pull it a few times tonight (even though it is our clean-up night). Anyone have any tips?
What's killing you? You need to pop raid cooldowns especially when you are getting two sets of Forgotten ones adds. Arms warrior or Fire mages are great for AoEing adds. Also 10-man is easier than 25-man.
It's 25 unfortunately. Tanks dying to yellow phase void bolts (1 war 1dk), the dmg from the 2nd set of black adds in one phase, and the yellow/green/red combo we do we just can't seem to survive through. We have 3 dragonwraths in our guild, one of the mages pulls upwards of 80k during an add phase, yet we still are hitting enrage at 20% if we manage to get that far again.
I've done it 10-man, yellow-green-red means you made a mistake choosing which slime to kill.
Here's the 6 possible spawn combos:
black — blue — green — purple: kill green, spread out and heal freely
black — blue — green — red: kill green, stack and heal freely.
black — blue — purple — yellow: kill yellow, stack and heal carefully
black — green — red — yellow: kill green, stack and heal hard / use cooldowns
black — purple — red — yellow: kill purple, stack and heal hard / use cooldowns
blue — green — purple — yellow: kill yellow, spread and heal carefully
We also don't kill the first mana void: we use hymn + mana regeneration talents, and then bring it down to ~400k while the slimes are incoming. We then wait to kill it until the next blue phase occurs and the next mana void spawns, and then soften that one up. This way we never have to deal with a mana shortage.
First red/yellow phase we pop most our healing/mitigation CDs, second red/yellow is heroism and the rest of our healing/mitigation CDs, we rarely get a third r/y phase but if we do the CDs from the first one should be back up.
Edit: also, hagara 25 is a lot easier than hagara 10, relatively.
my guild strat for h hargara ice phase is just to let the melee run the gauntlet thing, ranged and healers stack in the middle of bubble with raid cooldown chain and heal through it, while wtfpwning the ice pillar since ranged can just switch from 1 to another without moving. Pretty idiotproof strat.
