Took more attempts to get H Iron Qon down than H Horridon, not too surprising really but lost some traction from being unable to get a stable group like two weeks in a row. Spent all of last Thursday's run in the "any pull could be the kill" period of learning a new boss, went into today and after one customary refresher wipe he went down. Making fairly decent progress, so I'm happy. Also looking like I'm making the swap to paladin main over DK for Siege, since we lack a paladin and already have another DK.

finally got around to finishing ToT glory the last couple weeks, did some normals and stuff last week... and did mega without killing blue on heroic this week lol

H mega without killing blue wasn't as bad as we thought it would be really, dealing with green isn't so hellish when there's no blue to block you in

9/14 first night, I scored on loot, got my cd trinket and chest+hands for 2 piece, and then got warforged neck from Ordos

ranked 8 on thok yesterday, 3 on heroic sha of pride and 11 on heroic norushen today, and random 25ish stuff on everything else

been running 2h frost cuz I got a heroic 2h last week, but got a 1h this week so back to dual wield now lol

8/14 heroic now, and cleared 7 heroic tonight so good chance to get at least 1 more this week


pretty happy with where dk is at right now, topping raid on about half of fights alternating with lock, but enough of that is my gear that we hopefully won't get nerfed since overall most dk aren't doing great; it's nice to be getting to dps full swing from the start of a tier for once heh

Friends random accomplishment:

He got me to log onto my 85 warlock and start leveling. I forgot to cancel when I hadn't played for a couple of months and my account auto-renewed meaning I'm active until February... might as well lol. Guess he wants to pvp and do flex raids or w/e. He's enjoying his freshly 90'd holy pal, and I didn't want to play one of my already 90's since they were all melee except for my priest which is another faction/server, so I went with my 85 lock on his server. Seems like a good choice. Guess I'm backish, too bad I barely have 2500g on this server.

actually have a (tiny) chance this tier of getting a realm first, and (somewhat sadly) malk at west 170 / US 40 is our highest ranked kill as a guild so far


also malk disappears fast so if you want a ss after your kill do it quick lol

I have better gear than both of them, too. Was only 4k off #1 dk but the guy had almost 40 second faster fight qq.

Been continuing to rank really well, but our other guys are starting to catch/pass me even when they don't rank that well. What's really sad is I should have had #2 dk parse on heroic spoils as well, our side was done and the side that had both mage and lock failed by like 5 seconds lol, and then the next pull we killed it and I only had like rank 15 ><


also 10/14, and thok is fucking brutal, feels like dark animus just smashing us in like 30 seconds flat, cept this time it gets harder instead of easier

any general tips for normal 10m norushen plow? i assume in the grand scheme of things it's pretty simple, i think we just need some extra dps somewhere. i'm only a 531 lock but pulling 2nd or 3rd in deeps behind 2 other guys 20 ilvls on me.

what's your comp and stuff?

a few general tips:

pets do full damage to boss regardless of corruption, so bm hunters, unholy dk, and demo lock are particularly useful

chasing the small adds around will significantly reduce melees' dps, so if you have 1 or 2 people tunneling, it should be any melee you have

don't hero on the pull, get your best non-pet people their buffs, then hero and send in your weakest non-pet person and/or a healer, send in any pet people after the hero ends

armies and shit should be lined up with the hero

if you're really good at lock you can probably solo all the adds while still doing significant boss damage


oh, and practicing on flex is a good idea too

dps is me on lock, x2 frost DK, a priest, an ele shaman, i believe i am the lowest ilvl by a fairly wide margin, our druid tank is #1 in dps, one of our frost DK's is #2 and only pulling like 150k at 550-551ilvl, which i think is an issue. additional tank is a warrior, healers are pally priest and...shaman i believe. basically keep timing out around 6%, so it's close, just not close enough. i nuke down the adds with havoc on amalgam when i can, leave dots on him and whatnot. i really need to use havoc more and get better at putting havoc up when i can shadowboom the last few %.

I'm not a lock expert, but from what I do know I'd say yes, havoc is a huge deal. Our lock is one of the best in the world, easily our most skilled dps, and it's not uncommon to hear him actually complain that havoc is too good.

You should send that dk in first if you're not already... if you are already, then you might want to try someone else and see if they do even better.

It's worth pointing out that with the phasing on that fight and the damage reduction from corruption, your meters are likely hugely inaccurate. You need to have each person link their own meter to get a good comparison. Unfortunately the first 4 bosses are all pretty terrible for figuring out which of your dps is actually highest. You may want to do some goofing off in different wings on flex to figure it out.

for example in our hunter's norushen vid you can see I'm showing as like 180k on his meters, and our lock is showing 250k, while the hunter himself is showing 220k

on my logs I did 270k, lock showed 285, and hunter showed 150

aaaaand on the lock's own he was like 310k


As to direct strategy advice, I'd probably try this:

good dk goes in first
2nd dk goes in
priest goes in
you and ele shaman focus adds mostly, keeping dots on boss and chain lightning him etc.

when priest comes out, both dk's army, start hero when it's finished casting

one of the add people go in during hero, the other right after, spriest helps out with the adds while one of the add people is inside

If you can let the dk's get their corruption gone early and tunnel the boss without getting overpowered by adds, you should pick up plenty of dps.


oh, and don't forget that getting hit by stuff = corruption = lower dmg

they won't listen to me, but ill run it by them lol. this is the first time i've actually raided, so i'm sure they will just kind of tune it out. maybe if i tell them the advice came from a guy in a guild that just cleared 10m(?) heroic thok they'll pay some heed

It does look a little wonky if they're really paying attention cuz I'm in a special setup for heroic siegecrafter's belts tho heh.

If you guys aren't letting anyone tunnel at all you might just comment that you think you can do more on the adds and try to convince em to let one person tunnel since you're so close already.

well one shotted him tonight, which was the first time i had tried with this group. he took my(your) advice mostly, let me wail on the adds and let the melee/main tank/1 or r2 healers go in before me, then we 2 shotted sha, got gaze and neck, now i'm almost 540, which is nice. thanks obama

Making decent headway into heroics now. Got Immerseus last week then threw ourselves at Protectors for the rest of it. This week we wasted a bunch of time getting our repeat kill on Immerseus, after that we knocked out Protectors in relatively short order. Tonight we got Norushen down in 4 pulls(holy shit is that an easy fight, lol). Killed Sha on normal and then got Galakras down in like 8 pulls. Should get Juggernaut on Monday, and Sha and hopefully another next week! Exciting.
