    Can't watch some videos on Macbook

    I recently got a new macbook pro and I've been unable to play some of the videos I have on my external hard drive. I also can't play the 20+ most recent bleach anime if that narrows down the problem for you guys. I know there are a couple of mac users here so I was wondering if they or anyone else know what codec, component or player would be best for video playback. Any suggestions?

    Trying to play with which player? Quicktime lacks a ton of codecs, but you should be able to use VLC to play most anything. http://www.videolan.org/vlc

    It depends on what format the movies are in (I assume .avi?) DivX player for mac would probably work for most formats.

    You guys are fucking awesome! Thanks for the help!

    @Rockstaru: Yeah I thought that would solve the problem too, but there was only audio coming out and no video. I'm not sure if I was missing a codec or something. I know I already have the Divx Community Codec 6.6 so it might not be the codec.

    Definitely checking that out now... normally I just use mplayer from a terminal window.

    The Perian extension for QuickTime adds support for MKV containers, subtitles, and a few codecs, and extends its support to Front Row (sometimes, it's rather buggy depending on which version of QT you're using).
