College professors petition for Bill Ayers

I don't believe Ayers is a legitimate point of discussion in regards to this election but trying to make what he did heroic is silly. There were plans that were foiled of his that would have killed people. He may have contributed a lot since and that is an arguable point, but you shouldn't argue the validity of bombing government buildings.

Woah woah, I don't think anybody is trying to turn him into a hero and hand him a medal. The whole point of the online petition all those professors are endorsing seems to me is to give the guy his life back.

Ever since McCain's camp called him a terrorist and Obama throwing him under a bus, he's pretty much crucified in the court of public opinion. I heard hundreds of calls were made to his university demanding him be fired. He was going to another state (forgot which) to speak and the state's governor demanded that trip be cancelled, which it was.

I don't have a very strong opinion about the guy himself, but isn't everyone way over-reacting?

The conditions forced upon blacks, women, homo/bisexuals, and young men being drafted were far far worse than what elite slaveowning male colonials had to live under. Not to even mention what Vietnamese, Laotian, and Cambodian civilians lived under- bombs, agent orange, napalm, and rubble.
