Just tried it and it skips the whole black screen which looks like progress but now a l4d window pops up for a second and closes

I can't really think of anything else that wouldn't be a cause of your hardware. >.<

Last thing I can suggest is checking the Properties menu and verifying game integrity (or whatever it's called, can never remember explicitly what buttons are called these days, but I highly doubt the game had problems downloading as it's a rare case) and perhaps updating your video card drivers.

Was playing some pub versus right now.. we were on the finale for dead air. It was 3 of us + Bill the computer. Anyways, some guy joined right after we killed the second tank and rushed the airplane without taking any damage and he got untouchables achievement. I guess some kind of glitch or something? I didn't even know you could get that achievement in versus, much less joining waaaay late so that no one can take any damage lol.

It really is full of retards on Live. I swear, half the people either don't have a mic or when they do they still don't know how to even play the game. The idiots need to do some regular campaigns before jumping into versus.

Still, getting 4 people in the same room, on the same team, who all know what they're doing is the greatest thing ever. Absolutely decimates the retards.

I have gotten to the point where I refuse to play in pickup groups anymore. 98% of all the games I get in I either get kicked because I actually want to play instead of glitching. Or I end up with a group that has a twelve year old shrieking in it that we need to listen to him. Fuck that. There should be age filters that you can set to eliminate that problem lol.

Slowly collecting golds here, 5/16, although one of those was via an exploit, and one that rendered smoker pulls useless.

*How can you tell when there will be a tank in a level.
*Why do I keep getting randomly kicked even when I'm doing good like 1800 points when playing as the infected?
*How does the game determine if your gonna be infected or not? I have played a game where I was the infected twice in a row.
*How do you jump off walls as a hunter?
*As a hunter most of my attacks come from ground pounces because I miss when I'm on top of a building. Do I need to have the circle on the person or a little above them so I land on them?

Completely random.

Each chapter the two teams play once as survivor and once as infected. Say you play as infected the second round, but the other team still has a better overall score. (IE, they overtook your lead in that round.) Being in second now, you'll play infected again at the start of the next round.

No idea. Didn't know you could.

Might depend on the height and their distance. I never got the hang of it, so I usually leap from the ground as well.

Jumping off walls:
Angle into them, hold crouch, look away (get your back to it), and jump again.

Hunter pounces:
Practice.

Everything else was answered well enough but as to how you know when a tank is coming, if you pay attention you can hear it grunting from a distance. It pays to get used to this so if you hear it before you need to trigger any horde event in order to progress through the level you can aggro the tank, deal with it and then prepare for the horde event.

Hunter pouncing, take a look at this for example: YouTube - L4D Hunter - Long Range Pouncing

Notice how he aims upwards and at the peak of his jump aims down to land as close as possible to the target. It takes a while to get used to, sometimes you think you've overshot and you somehow land on them whereas at times you aim practically dead-on and somehow miss.

Listen to the music. Tanks have a very distinct track.

That and you should be able to hear their footsteps/roar when they move, impossible to confuse their movement with any other infected since they make a very distinct thump.


As for kicking, it could be anything. Some people are douchebags, others clanstack.
I usually get kicked because my team ends up being 3 Frenchmen and myself and they try to give me orders in French despite the fact they're totally unorganised. Then I get booted for not speaking frog.

I still get the better part of that deal though.

I actually learned most of those advanced techs (vertical climb and kai pouncing) a couple weeks ago after I saw a friend do it. Trial and error showed me the way to do some of them. This map is really good though, much better than practicing in random levels.

I only really started having some trouble on the advanced curving (i think its c17? i just looked at the video on the site and its the last one there lol) challenge, not in small part because my game was starting to lag pretty hard by then. Still I'm not quite sure how to get around that first corner... Is it just a kai jump into a 90 degree curve into a vertical climb (and so on)? If so, that is ridiculously hard lol. Nothing before that really slowed me down much (though I managed to check every wrong way in that first maze and did make mistakes a couple of times on vertical and advanced kai).

I'm going to have to play some more of that map later, shit almost feels like I'm playing Jumper in 3D by the end, lol. Edit: Actually, maybe this one even more accurately captures that effect: Hunter City. It doesn't seem as user friendly, but I think its longer and seems to focus more on precision and walljumping endurance lol.
