Does a Molotov contribute significant damage to a Tank or is it just best to save it for a horde? If it is good to use, is a direct hit with a Molotov better than just hitting the floor and letting it run through it? I tried to test it out in single player, but tanks drop easy as shit in Normal difficulty >_>

Use console commands to test it on Expert? Can make yourself invincible, spawn a tank + molotov in an empty area, etc.

I'm not saying Left 4 Dead on "Expert" mode or whatever is easy. You can take any game, and ramp up its difficulty to the point where its almost impossible. For example take pong against a computer AI. If you ramp up the difficulty enough, the ball would move at incredible speeds with your reflexes unable to react, while the AI would be able to react. Just because a game is on "Expert" doesn't make it a tough game.
I said, in my opinion, that Left 4 Dead is an "easier" game when compared to other more strategic games because Zombies pour our from all directions in almost every situation. This makes the game less strategic and more of a shoot like crazy and make at least 670/1,000 shots land to win, in my opinion.

I didn't know I was praising Halo 3 like it's the end all be all of Video Games but yes its a great first-person-shooter. Didn't think I was bitching either, more like stating facts about how Gears of War 2 plays very static and how reviews on it are completely biased.

Any flame-based weaponry (gas containers, molotov, etc) does significant damage to a Tank. You can kite the bastards once you ignite them.

Yea if you ever play as a tank and you get burned you're gonna go down fast. Other than that, auto shotties are the way for win, fuck the assault rifle ;x.

I think that's kind of a point of a zombie game though? I'm pretty sure this game wasn't intended to be intensely strategic in any way. It's just supposed to be run for your fucking life and shoot anything that gets in your way. The opponents don't really have to be strategic in anyway; they're zombies! (Talking about campaign mode, versus is a different matter obviously)

I'm strongly thinking about purchasing a 360 just to play this on my big screen with friends... I'm curious though, given how some FPS games have fared via porting to console in the past, if the 360 controls are at all awkward or if they are fluid. Thanks.

The controls seem pretty easy to handle and fluid, but I've never been one to play FPS on a computer, so who knows. The only thing that was awkward for me was the 180 spin-around button on the shoulder. Just feels like a weird place to put it, but I've hardly used it anyway.

In case you didn't know, though, Valve likes to give PC all the content and leave 360 in the cold, so take that into account when you make your purchase.

I'm usually much more inclined to play shooters on the PC, but in this case I find the 360 to contribute much more to the atmosphere of the game and enhances the experience. The controls are fluid as well, and it's not like this game requires absolutely precision aiming, it's more about being in the right spot and making good decisions.

EDIT: by contributing to the atmosphere, I mean on a big screen with surround sound and such.

just got left 4 dead for pc today, and it's freaking entertaining. all i wish are more mob types, more guns, and more maps. hopefully they will be available in a couple months like it was for TF2.

on the topic of FPS on PC vs xbox. I have been playing doom, quake, counter strike, and alot of FPS games on pc, I just can't get used to play them on xbox. I tried gears of war and it was very difficult to get used to as compared to keyboard and mouse.

I can play almost anything on a console, but when I need to use that second analogue stick to aim and the shoulder buttons to shoot my hand may as well just be crippled and arthritic.

I still need to go buy L4D, WoW has been eating a lot of my time lately.

over the shoulder/third person shooters or action games seem to work well on consoles (using a controller), i guess it's due to the camera "swaying" and your ability to see more of what's in front of you thus not needing as fast or precise of movement, whereas playing in first-person perspective, your reaction time must be improved and a mouse is a much higher precision tool for view movement

Just came home with Left 4 Dead and I'm so happy that I got it. I'm fucking stuck on the first level (the part where you have to defend the roof) and my group can't seem to survive the 2nd wave of Tanks/Bombers.

Expert on that roof with CPU's is literally impossible. I was only able to beat it with 3 friends. Still haven't beat the whole game on Expert yet. I did beat my 5k damage in 1 match as infected though!!

I got Left 4 Dead. Its pretty fun, and I really like it. Lewis for the motherfucking win.

At any rate, only complaint I have is that... only 4 maps? Even if it takes like an hour+ to run through one, I paid like 50 bucks for this game.

I have faith that Valve will add more levels if the game sells well enough. I've spent maybe 10 hours with the game and I've only played the first 2 levels.
