Versus mode is made of absolute win. Best moment by far was when my friend was the Tank, in one of the alleyways of the No Mercy campaign... He hit a car while trying to attack Zoey, and it hit and incapacitated all 4 survivors at the same time. He had 7300 damage that round.

But seriously, if you are on a team that has a good strategy (I usually play with 3 of my RL buddies), you can wipe the survivors easily. Out of ~20 rounds (as both survivors and infected), we only lost 2. They just need to make this mode playable on all of the levels!

I was able to play on Saturday night with a buddy of mine who had just picked it up. We ended up doing the first scenario and part of the second before the other random guy we had with us wanted to do versus. No big deal we all jump out and jump into vs mode. We fucking destroyed it. The furthest someone got was 65% distance. But we were able to make it through three different scenarios where we completely cleared them. Last one on No Mercy was rough waiting for that fucking helicopter. It was touch and go at the end but three of us were able to make it out. I think we ended up winning with a score of 2500 to 200.

Does a Molotov contribute significant damage to a Tank or is it just best to save it for a horde? If it is good to use, is a direct hit with a Molotov better than just hitting the floor and letting it run through it? I tried to test it out in single player, but tanks drop easy as shit in Normal difficulty >_>

Fire doesn't actually do damage to the tank. Instead, it basically starts a countdown after which the tank automatically dies no matter how much health he has left. It's about 40 seconds on expert and less on lower difficulties.

I know fire doesn't do straight damage to the tank because I've personally just dropped dead out of nowhere with 3.4k health left while on fire in VS.

So, if you decide to set fire to the tank, don't even bother shooting at it. Just kite while keeping an eye out for other boss infected.

After debate and from the input given in this thread, I got the game for PC and I tried really hard to use a controller but I just can't do it... the controls are all over the place. Keyboard and Mouse works significantly better in my opinion.

This is not a controller based game. Anyone that thinks your gonna have a better experience. Whether novice to mouse + keyboard, or not. Is ridiculous imo.

I don't get this. L4D is not a precision aiming game, it's much more about strategy. Using a controller does not lessen the experience in any way like it does with HL2 and TF2. I find this game much more tailored to consoles than any other valve game. Are the controls more fluid on PC? Yes, but I find the whole experience more enjoyable on the console simply because I find it a better game to play on an HD TV than on a monitor.

I've played through HL2 on PC and 360, and I played over 100 hours of TF2 on 360... I can do fine with both, but I definitely prefer a controller. Just more comfortable to play for extended amounts of time, to me.

I played L4D with my friends all turkey day and overall I thought the game was very repetitive (I'm talking about the campaign). I thought the environments and level to detail was spot on, but the choice of weapons (really only the auto shotty or m4), and the small amount of zombie classes (normal, fatty, smoke, hunter, witch) made the game pretty boring

I mean come on, I was expecting to see some different zombies while I progressed through the campaign, but I was disappointed. Fun game to play for about an hour at a time though.

The game just released, give them time to add more things, I highly doubt they plan to only leave 5 types of boss zombies and only 4 types of advanced weapons when there can be so many more types.

Needs moar rocket launcher/nade launcher a la TF2.

I also want them to add more evolved versions of boss zombies, like an advanced form of Smoker that can launch like 2 or 3 tongues, that'd be awesome and not overpowered considering the tank how OP it can be.

I have a few beefs with the game, main being the lack of variety in the weapons. I would have liked to see some special weapons added on similar to farcry 2's set up. (primary, secondary, special) Flame Throwers, Rocket Launchers etc.

The tank is also suppose to be spawned based on survivor advantages, but it doesn't seem very accurate a considerable amount of the time. Had a few times in multiplayer where it just spawned randomly at the start of the round, which is entirely unexplainable in every way.

The class variety in versus for the infected is lacking a little bit and I feel like I'm not even doing that great most of the time (even though I usually have top score) since you die almost instantly (or 3-4 seconds later) 75% of the time. I would have liked to see a class where you get multiple instances of the same character before waiting to respawn. Perhaps a pack of rabid dogs where survivors can actually fight them off by themselves (since it's so frustrating to be knocked down and another class that does this would be stupid).

As for the actual campaigns, I felt very satisfied with most of them though some variety to the way the end fight plays out each time would have been nice.

Man fuck this game. AI is brutal.

Been playing offline and twice it planted a witch in an alley I had to go through, every safe room in scenario 2 had a Boomer in it, and Louis always set off every alarm.

Then soon as the chopper/boat arrives I get pelted across the area by a tank and left to die by the AI who makes a b-line for the evac.

Cunts.

Lovely game though, full of good moments.
