Stats aren't everything you know. It's his character too. He did stir up that bit of drama in New York before he went over to NO, and what exactly has he done this year? Not much considering he's been hurt for the majority of the year, including the last half of last year. Dallas Clark may not have had a statistically better year, but he has a nose for the endzone. He's just been banged up earlier this year. Owen Daniels is really coming into his own.

But yeah, big whoop? Shockey's name is all hype now. A couple years ago, I had him on my fantasy team and he was a beast, then he hit a bump and slowed down. Trufax.

Also meant to mention Chris Cooley and Jason Whitten. How I forgot their names, I have no clue.

Especially when he's having a shitty season due to injury... you know... those things that heal over time. Either way, the G-Men did play better without him and Eli seems to have control over the locker room without a guy like him, or Tiki.. or heck, even Strahan around. It kind of does when they were playing like shit all season, turned into an entirely different team in the playoffs, and won the Superbowl. Gonna let you guess which part of that Shockey was playing for.


Plus I was pretty sure his career isn't what was brought up, it was whether losing Shockey made a difference on the Giants.

Credit for the way they're playing right now goes 100% into what the coaching staff did against the Patriots in the regular season as far as I'm concerned.

Plaxico Buress's comments tell me (going all psych major on you) that he knew they had gameplanned it just right to where it would plant a seed of doubt in the Patriots minds, they knew what they had to do to win, they knew they had the personnel, they knew they had the plan and that it was going to work.

And then they did *just enough* to make sure the whole team knew they could do it.


Massive confidence boost, and then when it all came to fruition in the super bowl, for lack of a better way to say it, it "made them men."

I think there, Tennessee, and Washington are beautiful examples right now of what happens when a group of NFL caliber athletes, rather they're the best around or not, really buys in to what the coaches are telling them, and believe 100% that if they do exactly what they're supposed to do in the system, they'll win.

If Tyree dropped that helmet catch you wouldn't even be making this argument right now. What, was the lack of Shockey's presence what helped the Giants there too? The team also won the Superbowl without Derrick Ward and he's one of the keys to success in their offense this season.

Winning a 4 game tournament does not all of a sudden discredit everything Shockey did for the team, I'm sorry. Especially when they were just as close to losing the SB as they were to winning. But that's just my take.
