    I'm surprised no one has even mentioned Healing Ruby and HR II. 350 hate free hp healed to everyone plus the option of DS+curaga I/II. I know you won't be throwing it out every ward timer but when you get the chance to its great; esp in an long fight like U/O or something where hate can break down.

    SMN doesn't have cure4, one melee getting raped kinda badly and it's over.

    Also, in merits, I 99% of the time prefer mamools cause colibri are shit, and lol if I ever took a smn to mamools.

    Cure IV is overrated. Unless you stack a ton of -enmity (which I notice most RDM's don't), it's just begging to pull the mob, and thus lose dps time and possibly WS's (too far away). And nothing ticks a melee off more than losing all TP to a "too far away" message.

    But anyway, most things have been said. Despite pigheadedness from some people that are "meree onry" SMN is a versatile and fun job, to me. Jack of a lot of trades, and master of hateless damage. Whether what you're doing can benefit from that, is up to your group. SMN can fit nicely into all end-game categories, unless your LS is too l33t and only wants melee and blms. And then I'd suggest you find a better LS.

    It's all well and good to take down fafnir in 10 mins, but you should be having fun with what you're doing. Not having fun = people quitting the game, and now you're forced to replace them. And they just took that latest good item with them. You wanna keep your group together, then make sure they are happy.

    SMN wanted in end-game? Not per se. It can fit in anywhere, mostly. But your group make-up and your other jobs will determine best fits.

    And if all else fails, you can solo a ton of stuff. I've tried soloing on RDM and BLU, and I find I prefer SMN for soloing. Much easier and safer.

    You can also assault carby on the mob and do it that way. And so what you lose ballad to melee songs? Smn gets 3mp/tic refresh w/o bard songs and most smn's have 11-1500 mp to play with; getting a madrigal once in a while isn't the end of the world. Then there's the JA that gives roughly 275-350 mp/5 min and you know your smn is gonna be healing when ppl have white hp (just like every other healer)

    And to the "no cure 4 gtfo" one of the other melee can voke off (or use other JAs as I know /war is kinda rare) the person who got firespitted to give the healer a chance to regroup. Or you know they can do nothing and then blame the SMN.

    That last post made you sound like the type of player who's never actually taken a good smn to mamools, but you couldn't be as shallow as that could you?
