I dunno either. Not seeing any posts about it. Some people are speculating it might have been an interfacing update or some such for the online mode.
edit: Maybe it was to update the game to not communicate with the game server every couple of seconds even when it's not needed? I could see that reducing server stress a great deal, and something they should probably do.

Servers are down again, as far as I can tell. lol
They should've pumped some more work into stabilizing the servers and making sure they could handle the loads they'd be taking, but I suppose there's really no sense in complaining about it.
