yeah, there's no way those 4 could support their own flick, except maybe Thor. I always thought Thor was kinda dopey though.

I may be no hollywood executive, but I don't see a ton of marketability in individual summer movies built around any of these characters. We're talking C-list Marvel heros with most of these. Ask 100 folks to name one supervillain rival of any of these lumps and you'll see what I mean.

Marvel's current slate is designed to introduce superhero characters via individual movies that lead up to the characters teaming up for "Avengers."

And I pray that they're not giving movies to characters like fucking Giant Man.

it's hollywood, plus don't need 2 tiny characters on screen. started as giant man after being ant man then they started calling him goliath. hawkeye is more notable for being on the west coast avengers, but was in the avengers a long time

I'm hoping when they say they'll introduce heroes by movie, they meant "some" and not all. Because you're right, a Giant Man movie doesn't sounds too hot. I've always liked Thor and Hawkeye, but I don't know if they're worth their own movie either.

There was rumors going around that they wanted Brad Pitt to play Thor(See: Troy). I don't think he's big enough to do it and I don't think he could pull off the whole viking accent. But, whatever floats Marvels boat.

About the whole Terrance Howard thing...

hen word got out that due to "financial differences," Don Cheadle would replace Terrence Howard as James "Rhodey" Rhodes aka War Machine in the upcoming Iron Man sequel, the news came as a shock to many...especially Terrence Howard. In a recent interview, Howard comments:

"It was the surprise of a lifetime. There was no explanation. [The contract] just…up and vanished. I read something in the trades implicating that it was about money or something, but apparently the contracts that we write and sign aren’t worth the paper that they’re printed on, sometimes. Promises aren’t kept, and good faith negotiations aren’t always held up."

Of course, the initial report could be bogus.

This may put the Don Cheadle news back into the "still up in the air" category. And thankfully so. Nothing against Cheadle, he's a tremendous talent, but this casting change would have been a real stain on the transition from film to film. (Mainly because Cheadle looks NOTHING like Howard and has a much different style.) It's nice to believe that the man who will likely suit-up in the War Machine armor in the new film, will be the same guy we saw in the first one.

Dude, his accent was trash. [Brad Pitt'] character was originally written as Irish and was changed to gypsy because he couldn't manage the damn accent. He's also only 5'11", not quite the Nordic giant. But then again, Marvel hasn't always cared all that much about character heights (hello Hugh Jackman 6'2" wolverine).
