The outcast brotherhood seem to have quite a few bases. I recently entered one I hadn't seen before. They instantly started attacking me for some reason, but I decided to humor them for the time being and go back to my last save when I had my fun. I killed them all and searched the base. I was SHOCKED. I am not a big gun user but if I was that place would be heaven for me. I found Missile Launcher at 100%, Mini Gun 100%, Plasma Rifle 100%, Laser Rifle 100% and on and on. All these weapons without any wear and tear on them. Everything was PERFECT. That place is amazing. I'm defiantly gonna make a big guns character and go back there.

I am trying with the Outcasts favor. So far their leader likes me, but I have not been given access to their base. I've given them like tons of power armor and laser rifles... so I hope I am close or there is something else I need to do.

Are there any advantages to having them on your side? For the most part you don't lose karma when you kill them, I found it to be much more easy to kill them and rob their base.

Has anybody here been robbed? I'm sick of this shit, I can't even put stuff in my locker anymore.

Anyway I found a REALLY funny story about being robbed. Apparently many people found this perp stealing their shit. Some put landmines by their door to ward him off.

Yeah, that's where I just moved em. Still don't know what all they though. I never really look at what I HAVE. I'm more of a pack rat and I'll sometimes take everything out to repair when I have enough of something. For all I know, they could've stolen a shit ton of my weapons.

That's kinda scary, glad Paladin Hoss got himself killed at Falls Church in my game shortly after I got the house.

Edit: Apparently it's because the container in your room isn't set as player-owned to prevent NPCs from snooping. If you're on PC, you can fix it via console:

Well dunno if anyone posted the fix for PC but just open your console with ~ by the locker and type

IsCellOwner - to see who the owner is
    SetCellOwnership - to own it.

problem resolved. no patch even needed. a simple change to game code. i love the console.

(might have to type like SetCellOwnership Player)

Anyone else got the jefferson memorial deadzone bug?
I didn't go to GNR, just went straight to rivet city (because of survival book thing) and got quest to go to project purity. Couldn't get near the memorial, no matter from which direction, always crash to desktop. So i just went on and explored the wasteland. Accidently found vault112 and skipped yet another part of the story -.-. Back to rivet with my dad, pos cheat (coc PPurity02) into the memorial to kill the supermutants and now my dad is waiting infront of the memorial until i tell him everythings clear and he can go in <_<. Tried all the QuestComplete cheats but they don't work either.
Now the only options i have atm are starting new game, trashing the 40h playtime and dozens of sidequests or waiting for bethesda to patch this (which isn't sure to happen at all) or hope for some player to find a working solution.

And i got another question. When does the brotherhood let you in? I wanted to get the powerarmor skill but they don't even give me a quest or anything, just tell me to gtfo.

The BoS will let you into the Citadel and train you for power armour after the Waters of Life quest.

Yeah I found the Nuclear Launch codes too, off some Wastelander in one of the Satcom arrays, and there was a terminal saying some of the nukes hadn't been launched yet. Interested if I can do something with that...

You have to do the Project Purity quest part first before the brotherhood lets you in. I can detail it more indepth but it will be chock full of spoilers unfortunately.

General rule with Bethesda games is to save early, save often and use different save files. Use autosave/quicksave to keep you going while you're adventuring, but make an actual unique save every time you do anything major. That way, if you run into a major bug (and you will), you have a lot of options for when to go back to to avoid it. If you only use auto/quicksave or a few saves that you rotate, you'll be fucked if you do something that you really need to undo later.

In your case, you really should've stopped immediately after you started getting the crashes to desktop at the memorial and reloaded and did GNR. Using cheats almost never makes things better unless you're actually fixing the problem rather than just working around it. I don't know if it's possible to fix your game any more, I really kinda doubt it, your best shot would've been to go talk to Three Dog and see if he would give you the quest to see Dr. Li in Rivet City.

I finished Blood Ties and made peace with "The Family" and then went back and slaughtered them all. Are they worth keeping around? I have a saved file just before the chaos ensued. But there was a shitload of weapons (including the sword from Vance) that I didn't wanna pass it up..

Killing them kinda defeats the purpose of completing the quest because the other town will now hate you.

I don't think they are worth the hassle to kill. For having such a nice base their items and drops are rather crap.

Yeah the family's items aren't worth pissing people off over. If worse comes to worse you could always go back when your sneak is fairly high and pickpocket the shit.

Who would I be pissing off? Vance's body armor was something along the lines of small guns +10 which was a huge boost compared to the pos I was wearing that gave +2.

If you took the option of having the family defend Arefu, Arefu's residents will now hate you for killing their protectors off. Sorry I should have clarified.

I made the deal with The Family to protect Arefu, and when I came back to shop for some .44 magnum ammo they attacked me. Then the people in Arefu attacked me too, but they were no match for ol' "Honest Abe".

The Family was a bitch though. Some of them had Chinese Assault Rifles, and I think one of them had a Magnum too.

Arefu seems completely useless. Guess I'll go through with the killing.

I went up the escalator (there 4 of them on the ground level) Vance and some other dude were in the back room; I planted about 5 mines in the little pathway leading to the escalator area. Went into sneak mode and one-shotted one of the guys sitting down. Turned on VATS and lobbed three nades near two of the guys standing near each other and gunned the other down. Vance and the other dude came running and ran into the mines and a few shots killed them both. Fun as hell.

I just layed down bottle cap mines in the center room
killed the guy in the store under it and ran into a corner and they offed themselves coming after me via the mines, was so easy and fun.
