I upgraded my repair skill up to 100 as early as I possibly could. Now the only guns I use are completely repaired. The only things I have in my locker at my Megaton house are a Combat Shotgun, Laser Rifle, Smuggler's End(Laser Pistol), Ol' Painless(Rifle), a Rifle, a Silenced 10mm Pistol, an Assault Rifle, a Chinese Assault Rifle, a Scoped .44, Lincoln's Repeater, a Dart Gun, a Minigun, the Fatman(for those really rough missions), a Missile Launcher, and the Reservist's Rifle.
The only armor I have is my Regulator Duster, Poplar's Hood, the Modified Utility Jumpsuit, Ranger Battle Armor, Linden's Outcast Power Armor, Tesla Armor, Tenpenny's Suit, Eulogy Jones' Suit, and Lesko's Lab Coat. Everything else I just sell. I swap my shit out as needed for whatever it is that I'm doing.
A great place to make some quick cash and to replenish your weapons and armor is the Wheaton Armory later in the game. After you start tangling with the Enclave they will show up there and attack the raiders, the raiders usually win and you can easily pick off the survivors. The only bad thing is if you don't pay close attention you won't be able to see where the Enclave soldiers died. Which means no looting of corpses.
I've been playing through some additional side quests and I don't know if it's just me but after I finished the main plot I didn't really feel the drive to do all the side stuff. Oblivion felt like it had replay value for some reason, although Fallout suffers from the same things I didn't like in Oblivion so maybe thats why I'm finding it hard to replay stuff. >_>;
Oh, and yea Brill I used my repair skill on a ton of random Raider Armor etc and you can sell it for big $ to buy weapons/repair weapons etc. It's definitely one of the better skills to bring up. What's your favorite perk ? I don't mean most useful necessarily, just overall favorite. I love the Mysterious Stranger perk where the random dude shows up with the .44 and just blow shit away. :O It came in handy during the stupid escort the scientists story part, where you get all the enclave in your way.
Get the 40lvl cap and go play some more. It's fun.
Mysterious Stranger is pretty cool. So is the Sandman perk, where you can kill someone who is sleeping. Otherwise on a functional level I would say the perk that refills your AP when you kill someone using VATS is pretty fucking handy.
Moots, seriously, who is the girl in your avatar?
Didn't read anything else.. but does this game get any better? I'm like 4hrs in and bored to tears.
If you are board already, then there isn't much hope for you later as I think the game starts out very fun but gets more boring as you get further or beat it.
what is the reason for a level 40 cap when you can max everything at 100 with a level 20 cap? Maybe a few more 'fun' perks but I can't see there being anything necessary or worth it.Get the 40lvl cap and go play some more. It's fun.
Meh I can't find the ficking scribe again in the Citadel to ask him about the next vault I need to go to. Last time this happened as well but I manage to stumble on the vault while I was exploring so the point was moot. Now I can't locate it even using that fucking garbage map on the Fallout Wiki. Urge to kill....rising.
If you have the quest active there will be a quest marker pointing you toward the scribe you need to talk to.
Yeah Brill, I wondered around down there like a dumbass too. My map marker would love to show me the NPC was in one section of the pentagon, only to have to tell me to go back out a door it told me to go in. I finally found the NPC by accident, but fuck. :<
I went to Vault 101 again to help the girl in the beginning. I replayed it almost 3times and no matter what I have to end up killing mack and getting kicked out. Is their another way without getting me kicked out and do I ever get to go back after my second time?
Another problem I just noticed is I entered the slave hideout and fawke just dies for no reason. I'm not sure why he died but in memory of him I decided to unleash hell upon everyone I seen from megaton to rivetcity.
Trouble on the Homefront - Fallout Wiki - The Vault
I'll have to go back and replay that part (maybe) i just walked in, shot the shit out of the Overseer and left after releasing people & grabbing tons of ammo. ;3
I flooded the place and convinced the overseer the rebels did it and convinced the rebels the overseer did it. I love getting bonus xp for random shit <3
Anyone know the best way to get bobby pins?
I'm going through all the other vaults now. Just got some brotherhood of steel medic suit and I'm wondering if their is anything else useful in or around these other vaults?
I've never really had a shortage of bobby pins, have you been checking every locker etc ? I think in the Germantown Police Station I found like 10 Bobby Pins in the lockers before the Jail Cells. Honestly, I've never run below 20 Bobby Pins, I don't seem to break much. >_>; Oh, try to find Tumbler's Weekly or something, when read they give Lockping+1.
The stories behind each vault is pretty interesting. Only problem is in one of the vaults I could only find one tape which talked about the clones going crazy. I wish their was more info on what went wrong.
If you're careful you can get through without breaking hardly any, but if you're really concerned about it just save your game in front of each lock that way if you break more than you'd like to you can reload and try again. I did that in Oblivion all the time![]()
You can go without breaking any if you just exit the lock before it breaks. When you come back in, it randomizes the position again, but you can do it with some practice without losing bobby pins.
