Question about Firefox 3.0 and "new window tabs".

I recently just started using FF 3.0. I've always been a fanatic of IE7/IE7Pro so theres still a few quirks in FF that I dislike thats only in IE7 (At least I think). But I'm guessing theres always a fix.

In IE7, when you open a new tab. It will always loads your homepage (In my case, google). When I try to do this in Firefox, it always loads a "blank" page with nothing on it (see image below).

I've spent most, if not all of my day customizing FF. And haven't found a google solution, or anything in the settings of the browser for this. Is there anyways to change this?

While we're on the subject of Firefox, does anyone have any idea as to why loading wikipedia freezes my browser for a solid minute? I tried with Firefox 3 and Firefox 2 and I get the same result.

What addons do you have loaded, and do you have the phishing filter enabled?

Yeah it definately sounds like an add-on not getting along with something being loaded from the site.

To add to the original topic, Tab Mix Plus addon can do the home page in new tab thing as well as a whole hell of a lot more, if you're looking for something to let you tweak tabs even further.

I only have NoScript and Adblock+ along with the Adblock Filterset.G Updater. I use the NASA Night launch theme. As for phishing filter, I haven't touched it ever, so it is set to whatever the default is.

Bump since I never got an answer. I noticed that when I load wikipedia my csrss.exe in my processes goes nuts and takes up 90-100% of the cpu for some reason.

Go through the normal troubleshooting processes. Disable ALL of your addons and any Java/Flash/etc plugins you have installed. Use the default theme if you aren't already. If the problem goes away, re-enable them one by one until it comes back.

If it doesn't go away, uninstall Firefox and reinstall it. Don't overwrite, make sure you actually uninstall it. If that fails, uninstall Firefox, delete or rename your profile, reinstall Firefox and try with a fresh profile.

If that doesn't work, it ain't Firefox, it's something corrupted in Windows itself. You'd either have to track it down somehow or reinstall Windows. Which of those you would choose depends on your own ability to troubleshoot, because it's not something I can realistically walk you through on forums.
